GAMBONE could you get a close up shot of your sidemount alternator setup and give a quick explanation on how you moved it to the side. That is something that I would like to do on car.

Crit 05-18-05 06:42 PM

Is the front nosework on the car original? Was it originally a US-spec car?

Matt22 05-18-05 08:54 PM

hey buddy,
can you pleaes explain to me what i am looking at, IE what extensive mods you have done. THanks for me and everyone else who didnt think about asking.

my teacher always told me the only stupid question is one not asked, then i asked if i could leave the room and she said NO>

And bTW Crit waht does your plate mean? LMPYCAM lumpy Cam, ie rotors?

IaMtHeRuThLeSs1 05-18-05 09:15 PM

Crit 05-19-05 09:45 AM

Matt - My RX-2 runs a bridgeport, and I've had a number of people ask what kind of cam I have in it from the way it idles. I've thought about changing it, but yes, it's supposed to be lumpy cam.

Gambone - What did you use for throttle bodies, are they off a motorcycle?

Founds the alt mounting pics, pic 20 is the one in the cercel and it mounts to where the AC would have gone, pic 21 shows the top adjusting arm which came from pick a part, need to get a better pic of how it's hooks up to the motor, the trick is, it usese a mounting bolt from a seat belt harness for the swing action. The rest of the pics I will be showing for some time yet are of the intake and yep I built all of it

gambone 05-19-05 09:58 AM

Crit, I use to work at a Mazda/Isuzu dealer ship and the throttle bodys are from Isuzu Troopers 2.6, they where warrenty clames, they where sticking

Crit, the nose work, all it is is a tube bumper, the OEM wiegthed a ton and I needed a tow point to get it to the drages, so built into this frount bumper is a hing point for a tow bare.

Well Matt22, this is what you are looking out in a million word or less, My Rx4 and what I did to it on less then a dollar a day for the last 15 years. These pics are of the intake system which I hand built for use with a K fuel system off of a rabbit, well that's two of them and still I need more fuel. So some where in of the pics you will see two ele nozzle which came from a Subaru. Pic # 17 shows how or what the tubes are for, they hold the nozzles

Matt22 05-24-05 03:18 PM

has anyone ever told you that you are nuts. but super inventive. it jsut amazes me tha amount of work you have put into your car. GREWAT JOB> what was it runnin gin the quarter mile? Matt22

Well now I think it's time to move onto other pics. like the suspension and here we go. The frist pic is of the car being blocked up in front on one side and you will be able to see that the other front wheel is off the ground. And why is that?, well that's becoues of the realy stroung sway bar in the rear. And if you think that is swell just know that the front sway bar comes off of a S10. Yes Matt I'm nuts

BUMBLEBEE7 05-25-05 12:25 PM

in the Racing Beat book they built one of those engine for industrial use I dont remember the page number.

Magnus Berglund 05-25-05 02:25 PM

I used a K-jetronic from a Volvo V6 on my 13B turbosetup.
It works really nice apart from the amount of fuel it can deliver.
I had two extra injectors and a preassurecensor, that worked really nice!

I will put the system back in the 7 wothout turbo quite soon.

BTW, where did you get the fuellines to the injectors?
Are these VW?

// magnus

gambone 05-25-05 02:53 PM

Mr. Magnus Berglund, I did a inter net searh, don't remember the company name, mit still have the recept, the ends are the OEM fittings cut off from the old lines and hold in place with a outter copper tube which is then slighty crimped. get better pics of this soon along with more detailed pic of the rest of the fuel system. Thank You for your quiston

karism 05-26-05 04:11 AM

Mr Gambone: If i understand correctly. The scoop on the bonnet (hood) directs air to the intercooler?

Wowee, you my good man,are not affraid to do work to your car!

I remeber finding pics of your intake manifold on the internet.(Thanks!)It helped allot with brainstorming to build my own manifold for a 4 barrel a few years ago.

I like the kjet setup!I love them, simple to keep on working, and yet very effective.

Thanks for sharing!

GTRay 05-26-05 08:21 AM

i have some questions about the suspension design that you have pictured.

the front looks to be of quality construction but it looks like bump steer might be a problem. the rack looks to be set pretty far back. did you make use of a double a-arm front suspension or is it a macpherson design? did you factor in the scrub radius for the front end as well? and finally, how has it performed? i'm starting a similar type of project on a GSL-SE and am looking for a good conversation on suspension design and construction.

Q and A time

5 Attachment(s)
Mr.GTRa7, the front end and how it is set up, becouse the 7 sub frame and A arms just wouldn't fit, (no problem in the rear) had to designe the set up my self. The most importen thing is to follow the rules of geomtry for a front end and as for handling I'm finding no problem but much improvement over the 4 stock set up. Yes it is single lower a arms with the 7 shock assy and rack. We all know how poor a 4's brakes are, well there's somthing there now that realy works.I also have taken it on a clossed coure raod track, GOOD

Mr. Karism yes that is a air scoop for the intercooler with a fan built in that runs off of a vac switch from a Isuzu desal, works real good coming of the line

Hi to Bluemunky and Diabical1. The specs for the front end, I worked them out, just got the books and follewed all the rules. Thats about as much as I know what to say. If you are thinking of doing the same, that's the same boat you'er going to be in.
O thank you Mr. Diabical, and yep more pics are comming, got some requist for pics on the turbo oil return lines and the fuel system. Will be working on them this week end.

Matt22 06-10-05 03:09 PM

how bout pics of the wife? just kidding, what did you run in the 1/4 mile? did you ever get it dynoed? i am curious as to how much pwer you have. besides being a god to all those who love rx4's. oh by the way, what is a good price for an RX4 in your opinion. a guy i know has one that he no longer drives, and i might make an offer for it. I would love to have an entire rotary army of my own. Hahahahaha thanks Matt22

gambone 06-10-05 05:14 PM

Time slips, at the 1/8 mi it's a killer but then that's where it runs out of gas, so from there on I'm trying to ners it down the track, think it was 92mph@14.3sec. still got the slips. Got a dyno here at work, had a 3rd gen on it and it out pulled the dyno thats becouse the dyno is a smog unit from Ca. so then I put my RX4 on and it just out pulled what the 3rd did, just feel the defferenst, like the dyno was not even there, but it falls on its face, been working on a fix MORE GAS DELIVER

Oil Return Lines

Well went thruogh all the pics I had simple becouse getting under the car and getting the ones of the oil return just didn't work. Pic 20 is on the work bench way back when I was using a 35mm, found it so here it is.The red line out lines the oil return line and the other line out lines the Alt mount which some one requested, think I all ready posted that pic. Pic 23 shows in yellow the oil return and in red is the coolent lines. And the rest of the pics are as what you see.

Cold Air Intake

5 Attachment(s)
well now, waht tho say, O just look at the pics. What I did wsa to take out the inner head lite and replaced it with a 6" speaker screen which fits and with the help of a little silicon gel held in place. On the back side there are openning for the head lite connectors which lead rite into the air boxes, it's all sealed off so all the air is trapped and well go into the boxes.

antiSUV 06-15-05 11:38 AM
