76 cosmo rx-5
Hi a friend of mine is looking at buying an rx5 and I was wondering how many of the sa/fb parts swap ove to it. for example does the suspension swap, the rear diff, trans , motor, brakes swap or is it a completely different beast. I've been into rx7s for about 12yrs. but have never had anything older than my current sa.

the rear shocks do and the frount struts can be made to fit but thats about it other wise it a differnt beast and most have 13b's and let him know he will have a time with wheels since no one seems to make a 4x120 mm any more but its totally worth it but it does not shre much with the 7's you have to go back wards to get stuff that works

I don't know why you would put RX-7 running gear under it. Especially 1st gen stuff which is, uh, sort of crappy.
Compared to the Cosmo, 1st gens make less power, have a weaker transmission, have a less sophisticated rear and most are rear drums lacking LSD (Cosmo has both rear discs and LSD).
It's not actually hard to find parts. The platform is the same as the RX-4. All the internal engine stuff is just standard rotary. The transmission is the ribcase and it's not hard to find parts. Auto parts store carry things like clutches, brake parts, etc.
The engine mounts on the front cover like all early rotarys and the bellhousing bolt pattern is the same, so you can put any rotary in there you want.
