76 Celica St project

Okay So I'm a Rotary nut like most of you, but I'm looking to do something different on the engine swap department from a rotary. My rx7 has a rotary and my b2k is gonna have one here the next year sometime.

Just seeing if any of you know Toyota motors at all and which one would be best for my build.

I was thinking to use either a 1UZ (turbo?) or 1JZgte twin turbo or 2JZgte twin turbo.

With the JZ motors what was the difference, I always thought the 1JZ was single turbo and the 2JZ was the twin but I've been finding alot of 1JZ Twin Turbos. I was origially thinking 1UZ but I want a turbo but can't seem to figure out a turbo set up for it.

Anyone know anything about toyotas please help.

If you change your mind and would like to put a rotary in it, I've got a nice extend ported 13B that would really be a lot of fun in a car like that.

There's a couple different type of 1jz's the twin turbo version are the older more sought after motors and then the vvti 1jz single turbo version which are harder to tune. check out this old school celica build

My imports of choice usually are Yotat's and mazda rotary so I'll do my best to help you out,

TBH in that year Celica personally I'd go for a 2TG, 4AG, 3SG, and all can be turboed carbed and with the exception (I think) of the 2TG efi (if you want). The 1UZ is a V8 pretty large and as far as I can remember never came stock turboed. 1jz and 2jz are great but thats ALOT of torque and hp for that small of a car.

With the JZ motors what was the difference, I always thought the 1JZ was single turbo and the 2JZ was the twin but I've been finding alot of 1JZ Twin Turbos. I was origially thinking 1UZ but I want a turbo but can't seem to figure out a turbo set up for it.
Had to look this up but, according to my research BOTH came with twins where the differences start is the displacement, the 1j is 2.5 ltr the 2j is 3 ltr, the 2j is also one of the VVTi motors for all models where early 1jz were not. 2jz are also more plentifull than the 1jz and easier to get parts for.

Anyone know anything about toyotas please help.
2TG, 4AG, 3SG, out of these 3 my first choice is the 4AGE due to it was a rwd based engine and can be had in gze supercharged trim and set up very easily with a turbo, the 3sg is my second but get one from an sw20 mr2 and not a celica as the celica ones are a bit more rare and need some finess to work in a rwd application, if you have the time and green to get one do go with the 2tg for oldschool cred. I hope to have helped a bit.

p.s. Also all the motors I mentioned can use ITB's or side draft carbs.
