42's are fine. I have tuned Dave's white SA with 42 venturies and somewhat similar jets and it ran hard.
idle jets, maybe go a little bigger to 70-75 to elminate bogging during transition around 3000 RPM plus closed valve @ bottom of fuel bowl and rotaries like 3 progression holes. ALl other mods on IDA, search under my username and you wil find lots of info.

Thanks for the help. I'm taking it apart to clean and beadblast. Got a new master rebuild kit and the manifold is on its way. Do I need to get a fuel pressure regulator with a return line?
Im running a holley red with holley regulator set at 6psi. no return. But if you're going with a holley blue, use a moroso fuel log instead of holley/mallory FPR. Thats my next route as it is highly recommended by a knowledgeable/experienced builder.

Got it all apart and beadblasted last night. Just ordered some parts from Jaycee Enterprises. Should have it back together next week. Hey wacky what is a fuel log and whats the difference between a holley red and blue?
Red = 7 max
Blue = 14+
Fuel log works just like a Holley fuel pressure. A fuel log closes the line once the fuel bowl is filled and returns excess gas back to the tank whereas a holley FPR limits the pressure to the carb. Similar to Mallory 4309 FPR for turbo application but without a vaccuum line. Jack has been using this in his VW motors.
