1974 Project "RE-POO'

I have never made a build thread before, because i have never kept a car long enough to make one. That has all changed! I acquired this 1974 Repu from a friend of a friend who lives down the street from me. It needs alot of work, but it has good bones. First thing is to get it running and driving, then body work and interior. I have a S4 T2 streetported block and transmission that i am going to install with a 48IDA carb..still looking for a carb. I will need to get the shifter shortened from what i have read online, and i need to figure out what is involved in the front cover swap. I would appreciate everyone's help on here, and have always used this forum first for all of my research for years, i have never had an oldschool rotary and will have some questions. I and trying to do it right.

Here it is

First thing on the list, remove oil cooler, gas tank, radiator and heater core and take them to a local shop called "San Jose Radiator" to have them inspected and cleaned.
Then this from cover swap.. when swapping the front cover from the original REPU 13b to the S4 t2 engine ,Do i reuse the pulley from the T2 engine for the engine balance? Do i swap the water pump from the REPU 13b to the T2 block? or just run the T2 water pump assembly? i know that i have to use the repu oil pan, but do i use the REPU oil pick up tube? i would like to figure this out before i tear into the engine stuff so i have no surprises. I plan on using a GSLSE distributor and and a 48IDA Weber carb with Premix.

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for the help,
Ryan

Repu ...

Very nice , you are very lucky to find that in great condition 👍 . Re engine questions : swap front covers and use the T2 pulley and water pump assembly . Swapping the pan for sure you will need to change to the Repu pick up tube but I am not sure the pan is a direct swap ??? Haven't done this conversion so not 100%. The T2 pan has the provision of course for the motor mount bracket ....won't be needed now .

Hello again, I recently pulled the engine and found that i have a complete "3b" (36mm primary's and 38mm secondaries )plate engine. Is it worth rebuilding? No rust inside of the rotor housing, and no scars left on any surfaces from what i can see. I slipped my bore scope inside and took a look around, and aside from the usual lines by the spark plug area all seems fine. No chrome chipping on the edge of the housings either. I dont want to take apart this engine and have it in pieces because i plan on having someone reputable rebuild and port it. or i might sell it..still undecided if i am going to swap my S4T2 engine or a spare 6 port S4 13B that i have in this REPU. I am not looking for Big HP, these are just my current options and what i have on hand.

Help me! i need some guidance!
