1970 cosmo restoration

as you can see in the pics, I've taken this down to the metal but only to stop at removing the windshield and rear window as a caution that I may not find the seals. I really need a set of original wheels and the center caps

trying to find any weatherstripping: windshield, rear window, doors, trunk, other rubber parts, just any kind of parts for a 110s.

You know for as awesome as these are, and everyone has an opinion on what you should do with it, such as keeping the ancient stock 10A, I'd say you're better off swapping in a decent 12A that'll get you some semblance of performance if you choose to drive it and enjoy it when you're done. Even Jay Leno went this route.

This car was Mazda's very first mass produced rotary and as we all know it went through some growing pains. The engines didn't even start to get good until 74, and even they left a lot to be desired. I'd say look for an 81-85 12A and start from there.

Otherwise have fun. It looks like you're enjoying the body work.

Wow. Love it.

I vote disk brakes, a 13b, and some period correct aftermarket wheels.

all the chrome/brightwork is getting sent out this week. It has aftermarket wheels and I want those thing gone as soon as I get a original set those will be up for sale. Sticking with the L10A for now. I do have a 12A engine if I need to go this route. I'm a purist when it comes to restoring the classics. Also more than anything I like the challenge to find parts and put it back together as they would have. No stranger to that I have restored two 58' Eldorado Broughams. This is a challenge because I don't know a soul that can help me that lives in Japan

So if anyone out there has a source for O.E wheels and hubcaps, please let me know asap. I will pay asap!!

overnight parts from Japan. Not really I have to fill a shipping container then it'll be a month after that. I think I'll buy a car to make it quicker.

This would be my option of doing it too but, this car will be back to original. I'll buy another one and maybe do a turbo build.

Really cool car you've got there. What are your plans for the engine? Rebuild or leave it as is? Would love to see some detailed photos of the engine.

plans are to freshen it up. I have records that it was gone through last year. It did run very well. I'm trying to find a rebuild kit for the carb. Most likely I'll have to get them made up. I will detail the whole engine bay, re plate parts as needed.

You can find hubcaps and other parts on Yahoo Japan, which is like eBay for USA, I have restored a few Cosmo Sports and have bought a lot of parts from the site.

at $8700+ dollars for hub caps I'll pass. I'm on yahoo japan once a week to see if anything is new.
