This may have already been brought to attention but thought it was interesting.

That used to be mine. Heh, I still get questions about it from that website I tossed together even to this day even though I traded the car back in '99. Usually people from Germany looking for parts.
Yep it was pretty crazy.. I believe it used the old style 6mm carbon apex seals. It was too much of a project for me at the time though, no way I could have worked on it while living in apartments. Also there are absolutely no parts available for them here in the US, anything you need would have to be fabricated pretty much or sourced from Germany.

hey there is one of these in this little car museum in nashville... it is the same color too... the museum houses lots of off the wall and very unique cars ... the little nsu was pretty cool to see...

Yep, they either came in red or white, red being the most popular. I'd say probably 9 out of 10 I've seen photos of were red. Neat cars but I've heard they have cooling issues since the radiator is in the front & engine in the rear. Never had mine running so I can't really say.
My pal still calls me "NSU Mike" since that's how we met, heh. I gotta say that's still probably the rarest rotary I've ever owned.

He ended up selling it after a couple years, I guess due to lack of time and too many other projects. It ended up just sitting in the garage the whole time, heh. Apparently the most recent owners are doing a full ground up restoration on it though, but I haven't been able to find out any info on it. There was a guy on the forum asking about old school apex seals awhile back for his NSU Spider project so I figured it was most likely the same car as there are so few of them. I never heard back when I asked them about it though.

there was a guy who restored one locally here (its a different car than that one), and he ended up sending the motor to germany, where they can rebuild it.
so i heard it run, really tinny sounding, like a weedwhacker.
