A 13B rotary CAN be coupled to a Suzuki Samurai transfer case by way of a custom made adapter plate.

God Noobs please STFU

The samurai already has a divorced transfer case, and a small shaft can be made to fit between this and the 12a or 13b trans with very little effort. The only real problem is that a 12a comes really close to hitting the radiator, you can do one of two things, more the radiator slightly forward, or make the shaft as small as possible and put the motor farther back. If you move it back you run the risk of the shifter being to close to you and being uncomfortable.

It will not fit with the stock fan and a electric must be mounted in front of the rad. There is only one true writeup out there for this and I lost the addy a long time ago. I know that they used a 12a with the FB trans and possibly even the stock length transfer case shaft.

Wait for it

i cant figure out what that last post is in reference to,

anyways

what i already know

i know the lay out of the samurai, it has a divorced t-case so the issue is length of the mazda drivetrain, i need to know what brackets need to be fabricated and what is involved in wiring for either the 12a and the 13bt

also i am concerned with the 13bt's manifold and whether the stock setup with fit in the sami

difference between 12a and 13b is 20mm overall length. A 13b rotor and housing is 10mm wider than a 12a (so 20mm overall) and a 12a housing and rotor is 10mm wider than a 10a. the old skool end plates can be interchanged with 10a, 12a and 13b housings and rotors up untill the FC as far as im aware.
This suzihki conversion has been done here in NZ before as well as a Mitsubishi libero (evo station wagon) and a few other 4wd vehicles. it works but they do lack the torque as everyone knows, bolt a turbo on ha ha.

stock manifold wont fit ,if is a second gen motor the oil pan will hit the crossmember and it wont clear the transfercase, get a RX4,COSMO tranny they are shorter plus the shifter sits a couple of inches forward so that way you can push the motor as far back and low as you can,use a GSL-SE OIL PAN,FRONT COVER and crossmember in order to mount the motor,if you buy a turbo motor get the engine harness, flow meter, cas, map sensor coils and turbo ecu, that way you just need to ad power to the ecu and coils and your done.

My Puerto Rican Mechanic.......NY.....To be different........Anyone can buy a fast car off the lot.......Building your own is more fun.
Where do I start? The first car was the A86 with the exact same set up. A86 got wreck now its the Samurai...the same motor from the A86 with ford 8.8 with 3.73
The motor is a stock 13BT with a GT42 looking for 400rwhp.......Not enough room for a front mount so custom top mount it is!..............Ford 8.8 rear with 4.10.

Let me know if you have more questions.

I'm not a fan of street Samurais, they look funny with little tires. I was gonna drop a 13b in this before I cut it up.

I have read that a lot of the sammy guys like to upgrade to toyota w56 trans and transfer case from a pickup. I have also read that some high power rotary aussies like to use a w56 tranny from a supra. If you can find out what they are using for an adapter plate from 13b to w56 you may be able to ditch the divorced case and save some length using toyota running gear. I dont know if this will work or help you, it's just a thought I had.
