13b street port ignition and other questions

Hi
My first post
I have a rebuilt, street port 13b with a RB intake 48 mm weber
RB ex header. I am putting it in a Lotus / Locost 7 that I will autox and
drive on the street.

What type / brand of ignition do you like best ?
Stock
MSD
I saw a racing setup that only used one plug for each rotor and one coil ?

The car weighs about 1200 without me, do I need a racing clutch ?
It will have 10" Front and 12" rear race tires. We average about
60 sec per run, not much shifting.

thanks

if this 13b is pre-86 the stock ignition will work just fine.

I don't think you'd need a racing clutch disc, but a stronger than stock pressure plate might be helpful if you can get away with having a heavier clutch pedal. Racing Beat's "street/strip" pressure plate seems to work pretty well with the stock FB pedal and hydraulics. I also really like my Centerforce Dual-Friction setup; the pedal feels a little lighter than with the RB S/S pressure plate, but the disc bites a little harder than stock.

Stock ignition will work, but I like converting to direct-fire at least. Search on here for "dlidfis" or "2gcdfis" for writeups. You'll have to adapt them to your application, of course.

Out of curiosity, what chassis plans are you using?

Either run stock ignition or go with electromotive crank fire, electromotives ignition system is one coil per plug and there's no box, just coils. It's very simple.
MSD is a waste of time unless you run two boxes. (well, i guess it doesnt matter if you dont go above 8k)
But if it were me, i'd just run stock ignition, get some 86-95 platinum plugs and run mallory coils. rest keep the same.
Good luck.
