13b MX5

Hello All,

I am currently doing a project car, I must admit I do not (at the moment) know a great deal about the turbo setups and what parts do what (but Im learning).

I wanted to put this out there and get some feedback.

I have a 1989 mx5 (miata) and I just bought a Cosmo 13b twin turbo. I am getting the engine rebuilt with 3mm apex seals, and getting the engine ported bigger. The mechanice also said we should dowel the engine to make is stronger (can someone explain that one).

Mechanic also said to put a microtech LTX8 computer in and a 45mm wastegate(dont know brand) and a garrett T66 turbo. Car will have a series 5 gearbox with heavy duty clutch, lightened flywheel etc.

I will hopefully be using the car as a drag car (depends how much power it has) and also to drive to work.... I currently have a r33 GTR and i cannot imagine the mx5 to be and worse of a daily driver.

Can I please get some opinions/comments and suggestions.

Thanks a lot

Lee

check THIS out. there is still debate over it as you can see, but as long as he knows what he's doing, then my take on it is better safe than sorry - as long as you realize that you can still grenade your engine.
