13B motor mounts

Hi, I am putting a 88 13B engine into a 77 spitfire. I am working on the engine mounts at this point. I have seen someone else's custom made motor mounts but I was thinking I could save some time if I were able to find someone selling mounts desgined to put a 13B motor into other than RX7 cars. Does any know of a vendor who sells these? I have seen the front casing's designed to convert the 13B to the 12A mountings but I want to avoid that.

Thanks In Advance!!!

the rx3 and rx4's had a seperate crossmember that bolted to the chassis and were not part of the the main body crossmember. The engine mounts sat on those, and the engine plate / bracket bolted to that. One of theses engine crossmembers would be the best bet as a basis especially if you can get the mounts and plate as well.

I have used one of these to put the 13b into my Mazda 1300 - they bolt up under the front swaybar mounts, so they are pretty wide.

If you can find one in a car check the angle it is sitting at and be careful to replicate this on your install.

try the older Mazda wreckers they may have one lying around. Apparently they do get made from scratch around here by one of the workshops (as someone noted mine was a copy), but I am sort of on the other side of the planet.....

Hey Tarl,
I've been looking into putting an '86 13B into my 1971 Spitfire, and the front plate mod seems like the way to go. The Spit's mounts are way up front and unless you want to do something really tricky with the bonnet or rad you're just not going to have enough space without mounting the 13B from the front.
Have you checked out Grassroots Motorsports' conversion? (http://www.grmotorsports.com/rospit.html)
I got the magazines that showed the conversion step by step and am very impressed with the job they did.
Please feel free to PM me with any questions/comments. I'd love to hear how the conversion works out!
