13b in a focus

may seem crazy to some people but im very interested in doing this. i have the rear end set-up taken care of. just wanted to ask how much a good 13b motor would go for? and i see tons of those datsun's and rx3's at the track with rotary motors in them so im sure the swap is very popular and easy to make mount ans stuff.just wondering if anyone has seen a conversion from front to rear and around the pric tag they spent.. i guestimating like 7-10 thousand with the rear

i would "guestimate" a little more than that. what rear are you planning on using? to give you an example...a 8.8 cut down with gears and axles done by Gamberdella in nj is going to run you about $2500 alone.
it has been done (fwd to rwd rotary) i have never seen a focus done.
if you are looking for a good 13b N/A i have 2 good ones. (6port) if you need turbo motors...i am fresh out. just dedicated last one to a project.

the datsuns and rx3's you see came as a rwd car and rx3 was made w/ a rotary....makes swap MUCH easier.

I don't think it will cost you 10 grand. You can do it for a LOT less than what I'm going to say if you don't want as much power. The setup I'm listing will be good for 500 hp easily with good tuning. You just need a 13b-rew motor rebuilt with a big street port on it. That's $3k or so. Then a big turbo and intercooler (hks t51 or T88 less than $2k), tranny ($500 or so for a rebuilt TII tranny), haltech e6k ($1200), fuel (1600 cc secondaries and cosmo fuel pump, lines, yadda yadda $800), clutch and lightweight flywheel ($800), custom fitting and fabrication ($1k-$3k), custom driveshaft ($500), tuning ($300-1k). And you probably want to throw in another thousand or so just in little **** that's bound to happen. So around 10 grand should be a good indication of how much it will cost. You could do a swap for as little as $2500 or so if you don't mind making far less power and doing some work yourself.
good luck
steve

If you just bought a j-spec motor for under a grand, used tranny for 250, make the mounts yourself, driveshaft for 500, and misc **** will eat the rest of the money. It would be a tight budget and you'd likely go over, but that's the minimum you'd have to do to have a 13b in a focus.

how is that funny?

the trany on a rotary sits higher up (munted to the motor) than a boinger engine. i have seen a rwd v8 focus that is streetlegal, but a rotary is a different story just because of the locatin of the esentric shaft. if you were to look in an old Vega...you would be able to see what i am talking about if you have no idea. the Vega was originly suposed to come with a rotary, but a boinger was put instead. you can clearly see it in the trans tunnel.
