13b in a corolla
hey guys im new here i love rotaries but i dont know much about them at all i have a 2 door 1.8 corolla looking to put some real power in it a 13b turbo engine . i was wondering what would it take to put the motor and trans in there. the car is going to be a drag car so all the comforts are going to be out also which is the strongest tranny that will hold up to about 600hp. thanks alot guys

Wow I wish much luck with build.
The build and swap is easy and simple if your good with simple fabrications and those would be the following:
motor mounts
tranny mounts
drive shaft loop
rear end
custome drive shaft
full cell mounting
roll cage.
For about 600 hp the turbo ii tranny with no internals is good for about 350-400 hp roughly and thats pushing it if you up grade the gears and also get the gears you want for he horse power you looking for the tranny will then hold. If neither of those intise you then just run the gerico tranny no fail system there good luck and post pics of your rided duce teddy

I have an Aussie mate who built a 74 2 door sedan Rolla with a 1000 hp 13BT in it, I actually had the dyno sheet and was present during the run, I have pics but no way to scan them. It was running high 9's prior to this engine going into it, haven't heard what this engine ran as it broke the Supra box and he was going Jerrico.....lol

Not a 13b, but still kind of close. Don't mean to hijack either, but this Corolla will be LS1 powered in a few months. Good luck with the build, the mounting of the engine is easy as sin if you can weld half ***.

i swapped in a 13b into my '79 rolla. mounts weren't too hard. went right off of the frame rails and used some angle iron to make solid mounts. wiring and what not came from a donor rx. also hade to fab a transmission crossmember. only thing is that the engine blew up short after the car was finished so now i swapped a 4.3l vortec engine into it out of a chevy s-10. also swapped in the tranny and rear end into it. really long time to finish cuz of wiring. good luck bro.

Hey guys I'm actually in the same path, I have a 76 TE31 corolla that I want to swap a 13 S5 motor into it, but I wanna do all motor any ideas on the motor mounts?

for 600 hp a doug nash transmission is inexpensive and perfect for the project drag car. The mounts would have to be fabricated and if you're going to make it high h.p. I would suggest taking it to a chasis builder that can sit down and listen to your needs as far as how the motor should be mounted and reinfoced . Also w/ 600 h.p. 11's are easy to run so a proper cage should be fabbed. as well. Go the right way before grabbing a Harbor Freight welder and attempting something you might not be too knowledgeable in. esp. for a drag care where your safety should be first. buena suerte, good luck on the build.

how much would a doug nash trasmission run me ? would it be clutchless? im not going to try to weld anything on this car myself except dump pipe intercooler minor stuff i dont want to die just yet. eventually i will have to visit a chassis guy to build a cage but that is sometime in the future. the car will come along very slow because money is tight . as i am kind of new to rotaries i will have to take it slow for the time being maybe build a stock engine and learn to properly tune it, then upgrade from there. my ultime goal is to have a 9sec rotary corolla.

i too am in the same boat.
i have a 79 te31 and i'm swapping a 13b-rew. i have the engine, trans, ecu and hopefully a wiring harness soon. i'm still missing several parts, but i have time to find them.
i was also thinking about welding an fd sub-frame to the corolla's main frame, so i can use the stock motor mounts.

Here is what I did to my 77 Toy.
and the trans
had to raise the tunnel 3 inches and move shifter hole back and move shifter forward on trans 4 inches
But i have my motor sitting further back then alot of cars that I have seen
I used the 12a front cover and the gslse oil pan. The 2nd gen 13b pan wouldnt clear the steering for me.

hey guys im kinda new so i figured that id jump right in.
I am also going this route with an AE86. Ive got an sr5 (carbureted base model) for pretty cheap and i want to go with a 13b swap.
Im not very good at wiring so ive decided that i want to go with a carbed 13b. Did any rx7 come carb'd?
what 13b's are easily carb'd? what carburetors are recommended?
im not trying to build anything incredibly fast, it just needs to be reliable. the factory output of almost all rotary engines greatly eclipses that of most 4age engines and are much better suited for racing than the 4age. which is why i want to go this route.

For a carbonated 13b you might have to dig back into the 70's because all the 13B's after that were injected. However the 12A is a more common carb find. I cant stress enough that going injected is always better, more horses and more fuel efficient. Converting my 12A to injection is high on my priority list.
