I just picked up a 13b with an adapter to go in my vw bug. But the engine isn't like any other 13b I've seen. It is carbed and not marked in the normal spot rite above the Mazda name on the rotor housing it is on the top of the housing under all he vacuum lines. It doesn't have an after market intake it is completely stock. Does anyone know what this engine came out of? I've read that they did have a carbed 13b from 74-78? Is this rite? What did it come in?

Any help? Don't the exhaust ports look different from a standard 4 port 13b?

 

'74-'75 engine. The blue around the MAZDA was one year only but I can't remenber whether it was '74 or '75 - not that it matters.

I built a very similar engine to yours and recently stuck it in my baja. I'm taking a break from it to focus on other projects. All that's left is cooling, wiring, rear cage and exhaust.
