12a coolant line connections

Ive been lurking on here for quite a few years gleanning what info I needed for my '65 Austin Healey Sprite restomod project.

Im running a street ported 12a with an aluminum 2 row scirocco radiator. Inlet and outlet are on the passenger side along with an overflow port. There is not a cap/filler on the radiator itself so I am going to install a remote howe aluminum surge tank with a pressurized cap (closed system) for filling the system/bleeding air. Overflow from the surge tank will feed into a catch can with a valve at the bottom.

All that being said, I'm going to come off of the overflow on the radiator and pipe into the port on the side of the surge tank. With the drainline coming out of the bottom of the surge tank, can I pipe it to where the heater connection used to be on the rear iron (heater has been deleted and pipe capped with vacuum plug and clamps)? Or does the drain line need to run to the bottom coolant hose on the radiator?

Thanks!
