I was wondering if you got rims..what you use to clean them? any special cleaners? other than soap and water...

Be careful, a lot of wheels are painted. I wouldn't use anything on them that you wouldn't use on the paint of your car. If you have to get a deeper cleaner, start off with something light and work your way up.

Whatever you do, don't use those sprays. I've seen really nice wheels destroyed by those. They are extremely harsh.

What I do to all of our rims is take them off the car, clean them really well with soap and water (the whole wheel), clay them (yes, really), and then apply Mezerna's Full metal jacket which you can buy online from detail shops. It's a little spendy, but well worth the price and a little goes a long way.
If you want some extra shine, put a coat of wax over the FMJ.

This makes them really easy to clean with soap and water, especially if you are using any kind of performance brake pad or tend to get cone marks on your wheels.

I do it about once a year.

Hope this helps.

Just reiterating be careful what you use. Depending on the finish, coating and material of your wheels, different products can be harmful to them. Some wheel cleaning products specifically call out to not be used on aluminum wheels (for example) or other types of restrictions.

Brake cleaner. Some have a chemical in them that's harmful but I can't remember what it is ATM. Some help I am :/

Pressure washer works pretty darn well too if you take them off the car first.

1. make sure they are not hot... let them cool down after driving... just plain water can stain hot wheels.

2. Mild soap and water (P21s is good), non abrasive brush/sponge/rag that should be used for wheels ONLY, some elbow grease.

Haven't tried that, but I've been using
http://www.adamshawaii.com/adams_hawaii_products.html -all purpose cleaner
has been a very good product.
Been told, Jay Leno's Garage manager uses it for his vehicles...

Adam's APC is ok, but they dont have a dedicated wheel cleaner so they use the APC instead. I keep the APC's for other stuff. Not to say it's bad, I just prefer the P21S because it's very gentle on my wheels. You have to let it soak in for a bit though.

Sometimes I will use Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine quick detailer strength if my wheel's dont have alot of brake dust on them. It's intended to be a car wash so it has decent cleaning ability and lubricity.
