Its pretty easy to do, but your going to have to take it to a machine shop. I'm pretty sure they dont work on the bartering system. You will need a pair of bearings and a pair of retainer, they hold the bearing in place. You will need to pull out both axles from the housing, and take the axles to a machine shop. cut off the old retainer, replace the bearings, and "PRESS" on the new retainers. total cost for everything about 75 or so.

Well you may be able to find some one local to help you physically remove the axles. The issue is you need a hydraulic press to put on the new retainers there is no other way to do it. I know this because I used to shear FB axles in half with my former Turbo FB alot. You will also need to replace the outer axle seals, so that the fluid doesn't leak all over.

If your rockin a stock FB your current axles are fine they typically don't wear out with a 100 hp driving them. Sounds like a perfect time to go get a job as machinist apprentice and stay busy until you leave for basic. good luck.

Ok rear end growl is likely a diff issue. Is the car lowered? Pinion noise is sorta notorious in FB's if it is.
Does the noise change at low speeds as you shift the vehicles weight left or right?
Could be diff noise, carrier bearings, or wheel bearings.
