What is the deal with Seattle drivers?

I've been here a year and every day just gets a little more frustrating.

Why do Seattle drivers line themselves up in a turn lane a mile before the turn?

Why do Seattle drivers think it's OK to drive 5-10 MPH under the speed limit in the passing lane on the highway?

Why do seattle drivers think it's OK to stop on a busy road with no traffic in front of them with a full row of cars behind them to let someone turn onto the road?

Why do Seattle drivers come to a complete stop when the car in the next lane over makes a turn?

Why don't Seattle drivers honk at people going too slow or ignoring a light when it turns green or use their horns at all?

Why do Seattle drivers sit in traffic on the highway for an hour to go 15 miles every single day instead of finding a different route?

Why are Seattle drivers so complacent that they won't go around a slow individual but instead follow behind them going even slower?

Why do Seattle drivers have to slow down to 25MPH in a 35MPH zone to go up hills?

Why is the right lane of the highway in Seattle usually the fastest?

Why do Seattle drivers in Mustangs and RWD BMWs with summer tires try to drive around on 10 and 15 percent grades while it's snowing when they know the city doesn't put down anything for traction?

Why are yellow lights so short?

Why isn't there time between the turning of a red light and the changing to a green light in the crossing direction?

Why do they have so many traffic light cameras?

Why do the traffic light cameras ticket you if you don't make a complete stop on a right turn?

It's so nice now to travel someplace, any place with agressive drivers. It actually LOWERS my stress level to drive around Chicago. This place is ridiculous!

I tried paying with cash locally and ended up having to send a check outa state. complete bs.

That's another one. Every time it rains, it's like they've never seen it before and they have to slow down to 40 in the left lane on the highway! It rains every freaking day! It's OK to go 60 when it's drizzling! Geeze.

If you're already going 5 under the speed limit, there's no need to hit the brakes when there's a cop on the side of the road! I just want to go the speed limit most of the time. I can't stand it.

I also find all of these to be true along the entire I5 but what gets me is when you drive stop and go traffic for 10 miles because a fender bender that happened in the slow lane of a damn three lane interstate! Stop go stop go... (one hour later) stop go stop.... "hey look an accident" looks up at the road and there is no traffic in sight... WTF where did everyone go, THEN YOU MOB LIKE HELL!

It's gotten a lot worse in the last ten years, I partially blame the people from other countries that well can't drive and yet still ended up getting a license. Also I-5 is a cluster **** with all it's left merge lanes, Convention Center coming down to two lanes each way, and well shitty laying of the road. Sound prof road my ***, more like lets make it as dangerous when it rains even with a bran new set of tires on the car. I've hydroplaned due to it.

I forget what traffic is like because I drive at night most of the time, but when I do get caught on a Sunday in ******* traffic at noon it's like WTF.... I'm there with you NYC drivers at least can do 60mph bumper to bumper traffic unless there's an accident or the dick at the toll's decides to shut one down.

Seattle is MUCH worse than most other cities. The complacency is beyond anything I've seen before and it causes major traffic problems.

half the people on the roads aren't from here, so yeah... the rain is pretty much a joke. People are either going too slow or too fast/following too close and WHAM!

An inch of snow and same thing. Either they are panicked and refuse to go outside, or they are driving around doing 50 with no clue as how to stop or turn without sliding into something/someone.

We haven't had snow in awhile, just wait. The good times they are a comin'!

its simple. People are attached to Electonic devices, not just that. but people dont know how to take it easy anymore. People seem to be on auto pilot. Like drones

my cars are going to be parked when it snows too, I'm from NYC and I know how to drive in snow with a rear wheel drive truck with no extra weight and with only all season tires, I have no problem getting around, it's the other people here i'm worried about.

I could just replace Seattle with Tallahassee and were in the same boat. My favorite one is people in Tally don't realize that they have turn signals...ever.

That's another one. Every time it rains, it's like they've never seen it before and they have to slow down to 40 in the left lane on the highway! It rains every freaking day! It's OK to go 60 when it's drizzling! Geeze.
This one is also very true, other than it raining everyday. I swear people in Tally think its snow lol

i know exactly what you mean man. i moved to portland,or about 8 yrs ago, and MAAAANNNNNN these ppl are pathetic drivers. i think every NWerner can agree that at the front of every long, slow line of traffic is a lesbo in a subaru wagon with the rainbow sticker and another that says "buy local" or "stop walmart" these people drive slow because they are actually SCARED of driving. i know, because i married a NWerner, and she freaks out at the slightest bit of rain/snow/speed/drifting/racing/ road rage/ clown humping. (ok not the last one.) the best thing i can tell you is to "fall in line" , i know, i know, it goes against most ppl's grain to actually "fit in" but trust me, it works out in the end. i hate to quote a F&F movie... but here goes "the nail that sticks out, gets hammered." -sigh

I moved here back in August, and the first thing I noticed was the horrible driving around me. Not so much here in Bellevue... But in downtown Seattle. Most people are complete ********. Those hills ******* blow. Especially when it's a "STOP" sign at the top of the steepest hill I've ever seen... With an extremely slow dumbass from Montana in a lifted 4x4 truck, in front of you... And some brand new GMC Yukon RIGHT on your ***.

I have been here for about 2.5 years, and between the passive aggressive drivers, the people who apparently have never driven a car before, and the police who rape your face with tickets for anything and everything. It has gotten to the point where I am looking at moving just to avoid this ridiculousness. Seattle is a beautiful place, but I can't stand driving here haha

I gotta agree. What I've noticed is that people on the highways tend to tailgate each other really, really bad. Since people tend to wait until the last minute to switch lanes to get to their exits or merge into traffic, they brake really hard or sometimes just come to a complete stop. Since everyone behind them was tailgating, they are forced to stop too. I imagine if you were in a helicopter it would look like some kind of wave. Anyway this kind of driving wastes fuel, which is ironic considering how much most of the denizens of this state claim to care about the environment. lawl

I am on the road a lot throughout the day with my current job, and I don't have too much of an issue. I think I am used to how stupid people are. The only thing that gets to me is people that are too lazy to use their blinker.

Only one I had was some guy fresh from China or something pulling out of an Asian store about to turn left. For some reason he thought he was still in ching chong land and only looked right and tried to turn into my left oncoming traffic lane. Tapped my rear quarter as I went by. Maddest I have ever got, but when I saw how useless he was trying to change my rear passenger tire he popped all I could do is laugh at him. I had to stop him after he put the jack under my muffler and started jacking it up. I sow sawwy, oh ok, sow sawwy yes.

I'm not brave enough to drive when I go to China. The roads are scary there, not frustrating.

You seem new here, so I will go easy on you. I don't care if you take offence, and that is all I do is talk ****. That idiot, was the only person that has hit me around here, he happened to be Asian, and he hit me because he was going to try to drive on the wrong side of the road. I don't know if he was Japanese or Chinese, and I don't care. Get over it.

I'm bringing the horn back with style, its like a second language for me. I honk at people all the time. Mostly they are still oblivious. I (as well as a line of traffic) was stuck behind a guy literally going 30 in a 45 the other day. I honked once nicely, got nothing. Again longer and got nothing. Finally I just laid on it for like 3 seconds straight and flashed my lights for good measure. He pulled over and proceeded to flip me off as I passed. I chuckled.

Some that aren't listed:

I really hate how everyone thinks they need to slow down and let people in when people are merging onto the highways

Conversely, I hate how people don't speed up to get on the highway

I hate how people don't know when its legal to pass buses (school or metro)

I hate how people don't understand the concept of the turn lane. They turn ACROSS the turn lane from the traffic lane while they hold up traffic while they are waiting to turn.

I hate how people can't seem to accelerate after the light turns green and only 3 cars get through.

Its like everyone in this state is driving like they're holding hot Starbucks coffee they don't want to spill while texting on a Blackberry.
