WA State emmissions

Anyone in the Seattle area dealt with emmissions on a modified rotary? I'm curious what I can/can't get away with.

You can get away with nothing!! A perfect running, all stock rotary, still damn near requires a payoff to some high level congressional comitee.
Good luck.

I have, and bstrange99 you're completely wrong. Tell that to my last test where I blew 73 HC's at idle and 86 at cruise, with CO% 0.01 at idle and 0.05 at cruise

This was on a 2nd gen with 1 main cat (no precats), full exhaust/intake, intake manifold porting, tb mod and porting, removed aux port system ran open all the time, TII fuel pump, and other stuff.

Also, had no ACV, no EGR, no vack rack or solenoids, and I DIDNT use alcohol, it's easy if you're smart about it.

Yes, you can get through. How hard you work depends on the year of the car. The emissions limits for a 1980 vehicle are much higher than the later years (I'm pretty sure you could blow burning embers out the pipe and still pass). The key is to find a shop or a person who has done it already and get help there.
I know an 83 in town w/ a SP 12A and no cats that still passes, so it is doable.

dDub, it must be nice. I had a buddy that just bought an '82, ran it through emissions, and barely failed (50ppm over at idle). So we pulled the autolites, that were destroyed, and replaced them with ngk's. The trailing ignitor was bad, so we replaced it. the timing was way out so we dialed it in. The car ran beautiful, but when he tried to re-run it the next day, the only thing it passed was the gas cap test. Everything else was through the roof. Maybe you should let some of us in on your little emissions secret.

He passed with no cats at all?!

When I had no cats on I took a test for ***** and giggles and got 1200 HC's at idle and over 2000 at cruise.

And I thought in the state of WA all vehicles 25 years or less old had the same emissions regulations? I guess I was wrong then if what you say is true.

No problem, I made a thread for how I did it in the 2nd gen forum because I had a ton of people that kept asking me how.

https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/how-pass-emissions-state-no-visual-not-use-alcohol-404646/

I was having the same problems as your friend. I did a full tune up, cleaned K&N air filter, new fuel filter, cleaned injectors, new spark plugs, etc etc etc. Turns out half my emissions equipment wasn't even working, so I said **** it and pulled everything. Many months later when it came time for emissions I started thinking and got creative. After getting creative and really thinking about what needed to happen, I passed in my first try
