thoughts for a new guy
just had some questions for all the brilliant people out there. first of all i was a honda guy :P but just bought myself an 87 7 non turbo. ne one got some tips for me as to what i can do with this engine around the 2g budget range to get the most performance? or even inform me of swaps? also if anyone around the area of lacey does any work let me know, my damn sunroof motor went out and i have some other questions. thanks a bunch!
for 2g and a gallon of elbow grease, you could probably do a TII swap if yuo're creative with your sourcing. ;p
other than that, i'd go through the car and make sure all the maintenance is up to date, maybe replace your bushings with urethane jobbies to take care of the 20 yr old suspension weirdness...
the racing beat road race exhaust system is a nice upgrade from an aesthetic, audible, and performance perspective... the general consensus is they uncork about 20 horsies iirc, and they sound sublime.
might want to think about getting your injectors cleaned. this guy has a good reputation: http://www.witchhunter.com/
a fella here on the forum does rx-7 work out of enumclaw. mark moses (mazdapu on the forum). i know it's a bit of a drive, but not many dudes will touch a rotary, let alone know what to do with one.

hmm
hmmm..2g for a tII? the least ive found was gonna run me 3g, i dont think i would want to try and install one myself especially since i know very little about rotary's as does my dad, he calls them "sewing machines" lol. mark moses....ill look him up. thanks for the help
a budget t2 swap could be had for 2K, but if this is your first rx7...
id just stick with NA for now.... while having a turbo is a blast, staying NA is still really fun as the car is still quick enuf to get u into alot of trouble hehe......
one quick question is your car a 4 or 5 lug car?? if you have a 4 lug, id spend a few hundred to upgrade to the 5 lug big 4 piston brakes.... then
try getting a full ehxuast system from RB( including the header!) and mayber some type of performance intake, and that will wake the car up quite a bit.
then maybe u could use hte rest to get some nice tires, or maybe some sway bars or something suspension related....
then after you learn to apreciate the na rotary and the fc handling charateristics , if or when you move onto a turbo rotary you will be truely amazed!
