Thought I'd share some scripts

Thought I'd help you guys in your music pirating ventures by sharing a few scripts that I wrote.

Y2M (Youtube to MP3)

Code:
Follow install instructions in script, create as executable
$ sudo chmod +x y2m.sh && sudo mv y2m.sh /bin/y2m

Then run

$ y2m http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8g6deqmcxs
This will turn ANY video on Youtube to an high quality dual channel 320kbps MP3

Default download directory is ~/Music, use the -d flag to set a new download directory,
this doesn't always get the image embedded correctly for the mp3, so just a heads up
(BTW there is a stripped down version here if you want it instead)

JIC you're having problems getting FFMPEG working, I have have an ARCH/CentOs/Fedora
script here and a Debian based on here (Works up to Oneric) here

Happy pirating =)

(P.s., this is only for Linux based operating systems, sry windows guys)

Here's another one that I'm working with,

SCSR (SoundCloud Stream Ripper

No installation required, just turn into an executable, move to binary and run

Code:
$ sudo chmod +x scsr.sh && sudo mv scsr.sh /bin/scsr

Then run

$ scsr https://soundcloud.com/useproxy/boys-noize-lets-buy-happines
it will strip ALL MUSIC STREAMS on a SoundCloud page =)

Again, Happy pirating =)

(P.s., this is only for Linux based operating systems, sry windows guys)

Oh, and to save my ***,

Warning: this is for testing purposes only, all music is copyrighted by the
original owner, I can not be held liable for improper or illicit use of the
scripts above

blah blah blah

TL;DR don't sue me

I save stuff off of youtube the old way meaning you need windows XP or winME (yes I still use ME, and yes it still works well where windows 7 acts like an idiot whenever you try to do anything cool with it). You just save the actual flv to your HD using Tools, Internet Options, Settings, View Files, then find it in the list, save to your desktop (or where ever) and make sure to name it. Then play it with any old FLV player.

There's nothing worng with doing it this way. It's not illegal. Your computer saves the file locally to your HD anyway. Then it overwrites it whenever necessary. What you're doing is chosing to save it in a less volatile way I suppose.

I heard there is a little bookmarklet (?) that you firefox users can get that does the same thing. Never tried anything like that though.

Sorry to talk about saving the actual video and not stripping off just the audio. I've never used any programs like that before. I prefer the videos anyway, although loading just the audio from these videos into an MP3 player might be a nice idea.

Jeff this does the same thing initially, just downloads it to you're
computer. It uses ffmpeg to copy the audio to an mp3 then just
deletes the mp3.

Pretty much same sauce, just automates it

HAHAHA!

Good to see fellow nerds on here.

I'm not much into pirating, but am a network engineer / *nix system administrator.
