Unhappy Testing waters on my 1981 FB S model

Hey guys,

So my FB was in a small fender bender on Sunday, and I am going to see what the insurance company says about her either getting fixed up or just buying her back and parting her out. She has under 140k on the chassis and a brand new rebuilt motor with less than 8k miles on her. It also has a new Street strip pressure plate, new clutch disk with about 400 miles on it 225 mm (Exedy) a new throw-out bearing and a new Racing Beat 7.5 lb Aluminum flywheel with a counterweight included with it. it has Rota RB's 195/50/R15 in Front and 205/50/R15 in rear the bolt pattern is 4X110 and the rims are 15x7 in front and 15X8 in rear.
it has a 106K mile S4 NA tranny out of a FC in it too.
I have a stack of receipts from Mazdatrix and Atkins and a couple of others as well.
The motor was built by Jeff20b and is a real blast to drive .
here are pics just to see if I can get a bite on her worst case she hets totaled.

The motor has Hardened Stat gears, small sp on primaries and a street port on the secondaries, along with Atkins 2mm apex seals.
the current carb setup is a Edelbrock 600 single pumper with a Holly 6 port intake and a 1" carb spacer that has been modified for Oil metering.
The OMP is currently ziptied open to 9:00 and the motor has been using premix for about 2,500 miles now.
I will be letting you all know if she does get totaled, and if I can get her back i will have her fixed and the title will be gone over with buyer. worst case i sell the car as a shell and whoever gets her will be able to part her out or make a track car out of her.

I am currently asking $2,500 obo but obviously i have to wait until I find out what the Company is going to do about the Title.

The motor has at least $2,500 in parts alone and pulls very strong.

here is a pic of the damage:

Seems to me if you have the skills to PROPERLY install a body kit, it should be no big deal to replace that quarter panel. I have done it several times over the years. Plenty of people on here have derelict 1st gen bodies.

Hey thanks Ben, I hope you’re right. I have to wait and see what the insurance says first before i make any big decisions.

Hey all,

So it looks like the adjuster came by yesterday and he was concerned that finding a donor quarter panel and finding a place to do the work would be an issue. His initial estimate was $3,200 to $3,500 to fix the car completely. So if I do end up taking a check for her I will be buying her back and selling her as a parts car.

Thanks and any ideas would be awesome.
