Exclamation Temporary Tabs and Registration

This may be a really dumb question, but

when buying a used vehicle, how do i go about filling papers and such?
Never done it before.

Buying a car for 800 with expired tabs.

Would i first go and buy temp tags/license plate then head to get the car?
i dont have license yet so i assume i will need someone with one to do this for me?

Recently moved and living by myself so i dont really have anyone i can ask about how these things are done.

please help?

Living in Washington by the way

You might want to give a call to the Washinton Department of Motor Vehichles and see what the laws and ways to go about it are.
Good luck..

if someone plans on dirving the car legally they would want to get a 3 day trip permit, to drive the car home. technically they would probably want insurance on the car too...
When buying the car make sure you get the title, and they sign it off, make sure the vin number matches the car your buying so you dont get riped off. Also you need a bill of sale, which stats that they are esllign teh car to you, make sure the bill of sale contains the date, price, vin number and or licence plate of the vehicle, and who the buyer and seller is and both of your signatures.

if u dont plan on changing the title right away dont put the date on it lol or leave that area blank....

Ryan is right about the bill of sale. It will act as your receipt and the state will require a copy of it.

You would need a Driver's License for them to assign the 3 Day Permit to as well because they do track those due to limits placed on it.

Depending on which subagent you go to they may require you to license the vehicle when you do the title transfer... Some of them are sticklers for stupid sh*t.

Why isn't the car licensed presently?

I bought a RX from washington a couple years ago. Lucky for me it was the same color and year as my other RX so I just swapped the plates and drove it down. I actually haven't changed the plates for 2 years now...a few more months and I'll have to get it officially licensed in oregon. Oregon has no time limit of out of state cars as to when they need to be registered. Just a bill of sale like previously said and the title.

be carfull driving with the wrong plates. but at least its same make model and the color helps too. I got pulled over at 2am in a primer red prelude with yellow ducktape "trim" keeping the sunroof from leaking and bumpers on. was on the car when i got it It was cheap and fairly quick. it was also strait piped with duel dellortos or mikunis I don't remember also on the car when I bought it. well I had the plates of my neigbors O3 black on black Jag X type. he has disabled vetren tags so those where just sitting collecting dust with good tags. I got off that by saying any kid with a screw driver could swap the plates just to **** with someone. why would I steal my neighbors plates? car still got towed, but I got off all tickets.
