Turbo's and heat:

Scenario:
Ambient air temp: 70 degres
Turbo spooling at: 12 psi results in air temp increase of X degrees... lets assign something high to this value. 120 degrees
Lets say the Intercooler efficiency at 12psi. Lets say 45 degrees cooler 12psi and 70degrees ambient.

Soo...
70 + 120 = 190 degrees Into the intercooler
190 - 45 = 145 degrees into throttle body.

None of those numbers were derived from anything but if you do the research and find the values for your car, you'll find that if you can locate a place where the intake for the turbo is 10 - 15 degrees cooler and everything else remains equal, your resulting output will be 10-15 degrees cooler.

Looks good Chris. It is strange to see an IC that fits between the stock supports.

Let's see some more pictures when you are finished.

More pics. Finished up the turbo side today. Started fabing up the tb side. Unfortunately I had to stop early. My Greddy elbow is on back order and has not arrived yet. So that is why that side is unfinished. Removed the tmic and associated brackets, looks a lot cleaner. Eventually I will remove the wrx7 hood scoop. lol

I like it. I really like the double pipes on the turbo side. So you planning on getting a new hood and repainting it?

I played around with a CAI on my 3rd gen. No matter where the K&N was located, I would still see the same air intake tempatures. Of course, I'm running a turbo thats probably twice the size of a factory turbo And i was using the factory ATS, that was moved to the IC piping before my Greedy elbo. Take it for what its worth....but I prefere a shorter and if possiable larger path.

I'm shure you're aware of this, but try to keep the IC piping short as possiable. Pressure drop realy increases with distance. CJ

Here are some half way finished pics. My elbow should arrive this wednesday or thursday.
Still not sure where I am going to mount the bov. Anyone have a facts about this, I have seen on both sides equally in magazines, so I not really sure what is best.

I think that I am going to put it on the TB side.
the reason for this is so that when the throttle snaps closed the pressure is released way before it can even reach the turbo.. makes perfect sense
