St. Helens Drive 2009

Saint Helens Group Drive!

What I'd like to do is arrange a trip to Mount Saint Helens next month.

This would be just about a full day event as we'd all drive from an initial location to St. Helens, have a picnic/BBQ then drive around some fun roads, and finally a trip back.

I am posting this on the 2.5RS forum as well, but there will be little turn out most likely. Regardless- This will be alot of fun and a great way to celebrate summer.

So- Lets get the event started!

Date:
Sunday, August 16th, 2009
Locations: Morning= Olympia- Lilly Rd & Pacific near Dairy Queen.
Time: 9:30AM

Route: To BE DETERMINED. (I'll be scouting the area a week prior for road availability.)

Damn.... too bad I'm stuck down here in Phoenix where it's 108F. The wife and I did that drive a couple of years ago. Awesome drive Up and Back. Stopped at that roadside cafe about 15 mi from the Volcano. Awesome food and some of the best Apple pie we've ever had. Have fun!

Its still on! I've been really busy lately. New job, and trying to find a new place up in Seattle. That and I don't have a laptop to haul back and forth makes keeping this up to date slow and somewhat difficult.

As far as routes, I'm leaning to Johnson's point as the roads are well maintained and there are plenty of places to BBQ. Most importantly, the route is shorter so it will be cheaper on gas.

We had roughly 6 people at the event. It was ALOT of fun!

The day started off with a very interesting twist.....

This was the reason why.

So the local State Patrol were kind enough to make sure we were alright. Thankfully no tickets were issued.

Lunch was delayed due to trying to find a replacement tire. Thankfully some shop was kind enough to trade 2 tires for some Gaterade (of all things).

Anyways- the trip was a BLAST!!! More pics to follow later!
