Thumbs up SPOTTED A fellow 10th AE

7am Portland Ave in Tacoma on the overpass for 512 today 7/13/2005.

Looks to be an all stock 10th AE. Is it someone on this board? Looked pretty nice!

I was going in the opposite direction getting on 512 in my AE86 coupe.

Was it a 3rd Gen? There used to be a guy that lived in one of thoses duplexes as you were headed towards Milwaukie ave. It was on the left, red I believe but it's been a while since I have been that way. There is another red with dark shiny wheels that drives around that area.......soon it might be me, but I have stock chrome rims on mine!

Heh, I guess it was no one on here.

BTW PDX RX7 - 10th AE's came out in 1988 during the 10th year of production. They were limited to 1500 and unlike most S4 cars the trim was paint matched on the exterior. The cars are all white on the outside with black interior. And amongst a bunch of other stuff had nifty badges on the front quarters that look exactly like my avatar.

Thanks!
Brandon

Didn't get a look at the driver. Just the car.

I know who it is......

It's a local roadracer with a looooong racing history that lives here in Tacoma. It is a low milage, pristine 10th AE. I heard that it had been hit not once, but twice in the last month so it might not be quite so pristine anymore! It's getting so you can't take a nice old car out of the garage anymore without somebody bozo-ing into it, or smacking it in a parking lot. People around the Puget Sound just don't seem to understand how folks like us can get so attached to our cars............

Theres also a 10th AE in the Port Orchard/Bremerton area. Talked to him on the southworth/fauntelroy ferry about 6 months ago, and no he didn't want to sell it (my first question.)

Yeah, that's my friend Steve Pfeifer. Racing for over 40 years, including a good long time on the Winston West circuit, but also has done Grand Am Cup and does the 24 Hour race at the Nürburgring every year (I think he finished 7th once). He also races his personal FC RX-7s in RS class locally, which is something he has done contiuously since the '80s, back when he and Dave Lemon (Mazdatrix) were on the same team. Very accomplished racer, but tends to get hit a lot, which apparently applies to the street as well as the track. :/ I got him and Brad Berger together so Steve could buy Brad's 20,000 original mile pristene 88 Anniversary TII, then he got hit a week later. didn't hear about the recent incident, but I won't say it takes me completely by suprise...Steve is a crash magnet! If you watch any of those "Classic ESPN" NASCAR races where they show the big crashes, the commentary goes something like "...and Dale Earnhard hit Steve Pfiefer!" or "...and here is Darrel Waltrip punting Steve Pfeifer!" In Grand Am Cup, when he was racing on my team, he once radioed it "The bastards got me AGAIN!". He also had the weird habbit of being served dead last in a restaurant. After a race, the whole crew goes out for a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant. Sometimes there are eleven of us, or more. EVERY TIME, his food comes last, even if he orders first. To this day, when we go racing without Steve, whomever is served last is called "Pfeifer".
