OR So any Portland area locals comfortable tuning their own cars?

I have a PFC and have read extensively on the procedures and theory of tuning, but need to have someone there to hold my hand.

Anyone that is well versed and very comfortable working with a PFC Datalogit could spare some time and show me the way?

Anyone that reads this know of good local contacts to bug for “in person” help in this area?

What I really want is for someone to go through the process in person step by step, and see the techniques utilized.

Any chance of setting up a play date?

TIA!

That road... it almost makes me wish I lived in China. Well, maybe not, but holy crap that is amazing.

Another shot of it:

Sorry, I can't help you with your PFC, though.

Carved by the gods themselves.

On a related note has there ever been a thread devoted specifically to the best driving roads in the Great North West?

Because I have a great suggestion, has anyone ever taken the 199?
No one has ever mentioned that road to me, but God Damn, what a great drive!

If you have the opportunity to jump off 101 onto 199 on your way back from the peoples republic of cal-i-for-nia (make sure its not a heavy traffic though) treat yourself to a drivers road!
you will want to drive fast and hard, really reminicent of a top gear challenge for me personaly.

on the NW roads topic, highway 34 "the alsea highway", connecting Waldport and Philomath, has a realy fun stretch on it. i try to take this road back from coast trips whenever i can spare the time. it's fun to rail the 7 out there, making sunday rider motorcyclists pull over and wave you by cuz they are too scared to push the corners.

199 and 34 are awesome!!!

I need to tune my PFC also. I have a wideband and Datalogit and a good base map from a similarly modded FD.

Ya I have all the fun toys also, its not an issue of accessibility, but rather of fear of the unknown.

I have had plenty of time and opportunity to do it all by my self and slowly get comfortable with the system, but internally refuse to because I dont want to destroy anything from simple inexperience. Like missing a simple setting , or even making a dumb mistake because of naivety.

I have looked over many of the top tuners maps and see how their maps compare to my own, and in doing so I can see that they differ greatly in AFRs and even basic settings for very similar setups. Which really lends itself to the credence that each one of these cars is different.
Some of this is probably just preference, and a good judgment call based on whose car is presently being worked on I am sure.

I consistently read the PFC forums and am a part of both the datalogit group as well as the PFC Tuning group.
My library of tuning topics and saved threads is quite expansive, and I really feel I get the core ideas and most of the tricks of the trade, so I dont think I will need much tutelage, but rather just help moving forward.

Right now I feel the top of my map is very safe, high RPM and high load, is great.
However, I believe there is a lot of work to be done in the idle and low load areas.

So the parts I am looking for help in are very low critical areas, and I am sure there are at least a few Washingtonians/Oregonians and hopefully specifically the greater Portland area that I could convince to help me understand how to use these systems in person.

(PS if you have any interest in this topic the PFC Tuning group is a great place and is worth every penny, as well as a special thanks the Raymond and Chuck as well as all the other very informative helpful poeple there)
