If it isn't a new rotary from Mazda, then who here cares. four cyclinder fuel efficent blah blah blah, all i hear is boing boing boing, not humm pop pop humm.

Mazda piston engine = fail, to me. Now if they ever rip off somebody's V8 design I'd be interested

no V6 or V8, there down sizing to I-4 na and no turbos, as they are not fuel savers. there target is 30% save in fuel, and yes they are still working on the 16x!!!

I guest if they want to stay in business, they do have give the general public what they want, and that rigth now is to save on fuel!!!

In fact, the 16X so far performs slightly better than Mazda's standard two-liter gasoline engine, said Mitsuo Hitomi, general manager of the Japanese carmaker's powertrain division.

Turbos don't equal bad fuel mileage. They can actually get better mileage then a NA when driven correctly but who would want to do that in a turbo car? Boring.

And now you've gone and made another mistake on this forum, first you posted about piston driven Mazdas, which 90% of RX7 owners don't care about and now your bringing up the fuel saving ability of this 4 cylinder engine, which 99% of RX7 owners don't or can't care about. Im interested in what additional technologies they are incorporating into production engines to achive 30% gains in fuel economy. Direct injection is a given but what else? I'm suprised we haven't seen lean burn technology more to date.

firth of I have had three rotary car, a 1986 with 120,000 mile and not one problem with the engine at all, sense new, 1991 twin turbo with 95,000 mile since I got it with 25,000, and not one problem with the engine, I have now a 2004 RX8 got it use with 23,000 miles, I got a new engine at 43,000 miles, its at 60,000 miles now and not one problem since the new engine and I got the new engine with no problem at all.

I guest my point is, I have not had a car that has not make me feel more alive, and that I have had more fun with then with Mazda and that is including my Mx6 turbo!!!

but you never know what can be around the corner with this new sky engine, it could be the next great engine from Mazda, yet again they can fall on there face. am just glad that there doing something, and look forward to it!!!

as for the turbo engine not been fuel saver, well Mazda engineers are the one's saying that there not fuel saver!!!

and as for people not caring for Mazda piston engine, all I have to say is if Mazda don't keep sales up with there piston car, we will not have any more Rx car, as they do not make any profit out of the Rx car! and this is one of the recent why am interested in this new engine.

So hopefully we will get an new Rx car in the future!!!

and dude its not personal, I was commenting on what I read in the last zoom-zoom magazine that I got from Mazda around Christmas!!!

I Love the end quote: "We will never give up." [You hear that LSx swappers?! :P]

30% economy boost... awahwha *drool..*
I think I need to start earning money to save up for a 16X swap for my DD FC ^_-

Though.. ANNOUNCING when it will be available in ~Oct 2012 :'(...

EDIT: Actually, thinking about it.. If it's getting near 30MPG [25% of 24MPG=6MPG >> 24+6=30MPG -- to be conservative] We may see a revival of rotary powered everyday cars from Mazda.. Which would be SUPER AWESOME!
