rofl. It wasn't actually my iPhone someone brought one into my work and I was playing with it. lol. So much hate!

Besides. I would much rather put the $600 into my car and then the $70 per month for the cheapest plan.

I've heard the iPhone cannot send pics to others. It was a feature they forgot to include I guess. Sounds like something they could fix though with just an update.

I swear.. No one seems to even know there's a $500 model! ^_-

I bought one and it is the best investment I think I have ever made. No one would criticize spending $500 on a laptop, yet this device is, in many ways, more powerful. More powerful in the sense of doing so much with so little, and making it so usable in the process. I can't even begin tell you how practical the features are. I take it *everywhere* which is something I cannot do with a laptop. The web browser is amazing. The video quality is amazing. The visual voice mail is amazing. The Google Map application is really amazing. Email app is awesome. Everything. The way they tie apps together makes it worth more than the sum of the parts. And while the individual features may not be unique (other phones have browsers, maps, calendars, etc.), the implimentation is revolutionary. It's not perfect, but for Version 1.0 it is frighteningly good. After only a few weeks, I am not sure I would manage without one now that it is so integrated with my daily life.

Jeez I can do the same stuff with my Treo without having to sign up with a terrible service provider and pay wayyyyy too much money for a iPHONE. Sure it has great features and capabilities but it's not practcal for myself or my profession

You can get drunk on fortified wine or fine wine equally. It doesn't make it the same experience. Just because your Trio can do many of the same things does not make them equal...not even close. Just my opinion. As for AT&T being a bad provider, I wonder what you base that on? In the NW, the "new" AT&T/Cingular/old AT&T is based on the McCaw Cellular, the first cell company here. That gave them the advantage in cell tower sites which still gives the better coverage today, particularly downtown. I have had AT&T for 10 years now and am satisfied. As for the cost, I pay $49.99 a month, including unlimited data.

This weekend, I am in Seattle visiting my family. Yesterday, I got dragged around for furniture shopping and a lot more. All day long, I used my iPhone to check email, browse the web and find our way with Google Maps. Very practical. I am still in Seattle today and will again get a lot of use with my iPhone. After the Bellevue Art fair, we are going garage sale hunting, using only the iPhone to locate them.

Since getting the iPhone, I have used it at least 4 hours a day. The price is inconsequential to the enormous value, in my opinion.

BTW, I am using the iPhone right now to write this post.

I base my statements off of my entire family using AT&T for several years now and having horrible coverage and droppepd call after dropped call. I'm not saying the two phones are equal, persay, I just can't justify the price of the iPhone when my Treo costs half as much and has virtually the same features, and then some! I can actually use my Treo as my Realtor key to enter homes. And if I wanted to use it as my audio player I very well could, I just have an iPod so I don't see the need for it. As for garage sales, my phone does not locate garage sales, but I do have access to maps and directions and anything available via the internet.

I will admit the iPhone is cool. I just can't justify the price compared to other phones with similar features...

blake how long is your real world battery life ?
sounds like the google maps and surfing the web would be the only things I would buy one for, but 70 a month cheapest is a rediculous service charge

I rarely use it more than 4 hours a day and recharge it every night, but at that point it still shows ~50% charge. A few times, I have used it 6+ hours and it showed ~20% charge remaining. The claim of 8 hours use seems realistic to me, even in the real world.

I think you are misinformed on the service plans. The cheapest plan for new customers is $60/month; not $70. That includes unlimited data (Internet). While some people claim the EDGE network is slow, I think it is quite usable...far faster than dialup, for example. Certainly worth the $20/month premium for service everywhere, in my opinion.
