Service/Tune Specialists HELP!
I'm trying to find reputable places around the Northwest to service/tune/dyno my car. I've become a little desperate asking places like FAME in Redmond, WA.
My first choice was Gary at EP. Waited for what seems like two months. He still hasn't gotten back to me.
My second choice was of course FAME but they turned me away.
My Third choice was Corksport but they turned me away also. Fortunately they recommended Sourceforge in Oregon. I just want to see if there are any other places closer. Actually surprised a place like Corksport doesn't mechanically service RX-7's.
I'm cautious in finding a reputable rotary specialist that can service/tune/dyno/ my car. It's been an ongoing project of mine for years and i'm just about finished. This is starting to **** me off.

Corksport came back and mentioned they haven't done service in years. Well in my defense i've been in limbo and out of the scene for 6 years. I've only recently finished the car to a point where someone else needs to take charge.

Good luck they're few and far between from what i can tell. I posted a similar thread not too long ago. From what i gathered, Pineapple express for engine work/rebuilding as well as Jerrys little car shop. For tuning it seems that Track forged in Oregon is a decent dyno/tune shop and seemed knowledgable when i spoke with them on the phone. I spoke with Lawrence at Intec racing in kent also and he seemed like he knew his stuff as well as being comfortable with tuning rotary. Again this is just speaking with them and im still looking around. Hope that helps

yeah there arnt a lot of options in seattle now days...
I don't know if id trust intec to be honest...
drift office does a lot of tuning now.... but they wont touch rotarys!
im probably going to take my car there and tune it my self on there dyno here within a couple months. as getting a good tune on the street is pretty dangerous/illegal/ difficult.
if you are going to take it somewhere that isn't well known id just make sure you've got a decent conservative timing map, and a base map that is somewhere in the ballpark to start with.( preferably too rich In the first place)
have u done any tuning your self before?

Track forged has a mixed reputation. Their tuner recently left and went to PRE in portland. I took my car to PRE. They did some diagnostics and corner balance/alignment, and gave me the car back so I could solve some issues before they tuned it. Tune seems pretty decent. Car hasn't blown up yet. I will know more when I get my W/B AF installed and eventually get a datalogit.
My car is a single turbo FD.

I only ask because I talked to someone last weekend and they seemed like they were very comfortable tuning rotary, talked about their 400hp track fd and seemed as if they knew their ****. We just still need others to chime in with their experiences around the NW

My fd is aTrack forged tuned car. Runs super fast super hard. All the work is quality. If you have your doubts ill give you a ride in my car and you can see for yourself. The way I hear the reputation was bad is cause people who think they can afford a 7 really can't and try to do things on the cheap. Then blame the shop when it is themselves they really should be blaming.

First Stop Performance in Clearview- Don knows rotaries inside out. The only one I'll trust my RX-7 with. Been building rotary motors since the '70s. Knows all generations of RX's. He doesn't have a dyno - so if you're looking for the tuning part, he can get you to factory specs easily, and has done a lot of custom rotaries over the years, but doesn't have a dyno tuning facility. Awesome place for servicing though.
For Dyno's - I'm not aware of anyone who's rotary specific in WWa. However, Austin's pro-max Auto Repair Tacoma | Tacoma Auto Repair is a good tuner. I've used High Performance Auto Services | Hemi - BMW - Corvette/Camaro - Car/Truck - Carburetor/Smog Repair for dyno days - and they're great tuners, should be good with most any EFI setup. Lastly, I used Blood enterprises in Auburn - tuning session was going well there with my old Wolf 3D. I picked Blood because they have a dyno that'll hold a specific speed so I could tune my car. However, we didn't cool the car enough with big fans an I got it a bit too hot. Any dyno tuning runs with a rotary should be extra vigilant about cooling.
