safc2 in seattle?

Hi all, my second gen is sucking up 30-40 $ worth of gas a day and its really starting to make me mad. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get an safc2 and get my car dynoed/safc tuned in / around the seattle area.

Thanks
Tweak.

Carb and Fuel Injection Connection is Apexi certified for installation/tuning. I'm sure they can probably get one for you too, but if not they'll do the tuning on their dyno, and they're located in Kirkland.

Any performance shop should be able to get it for you. Or Ebay, they're cheap on Ebay.

I think a better solution to your problem would be a $1000 honda civic, it will get much better gas mileage and be the same price as a SAFC and tuning. I don't think an SAFC is going to help your mileage much, not to mention not even nearly enough to justify the initial cost. If your FC is having dismal mileage compared to other FCs you probably have a problem that an SAFC wont solve.

SAFC2 + tuning is like 400, 500 max. Where are you getting 1000?

But you're right, Icemastr, the SAFC may not fix the issue. What kind of gas mileage are you getting Tweak?

Simply put, you use it to add or subtract percentages of fuel in various RPM ranges.

My opinion: Forget the SAFC and go with a programmed ECU or stand alone unit. SAFC is a waste of money on a rotary. I have read that they really don't do enough to help you out. Save your money and buy an new ECU

Nah, that's not true. SAFC's work just fine--rotary or not. Also, there aren't a lot of ECU "chips" for the FC (like there is for the FD). I'd recommend an SAFC to anyone looking for cheap tunability, however a SAFC won't do much for bettering your gas mileage... Maybe a couple MPG increase? Who knows. What MPG are you getting?

From my research there are plenty of ECU's and stand alone's for FC's and any sort of piggy back system (SAFC or any other) aren't as reliable of a tuning method

Yeah, there are a lot of stand-alone's--which require a lot of money and experience to install and tune. But other than the R-Tek chip--what's another common ECU upgrade/chip for the FC? I know what there are, and I know that there are only a few.

SAFC's work just fine, and are a cheap and easy way to subract and/or add fuel... Steve Kan has mentioned that he trusts their "piggyback" ability up to around 350whp--beyond that he'd recommend a stand-alone.

Well if Steve Kan says it's alright for under 350 than I guess it's not a BAD idea, but personally I don't see why you wouldn't spend $800 for a PFC and call it good FOREVER! Or $400 for a pre-programmed ECU that would work well for his mods. I guess it all depends on his plans for the future, but I'd say just spend the money now rather than buying a SAFC and then getting rid of it later for an ECU or stand alone... If it's just a gas mileage issue I wouldn't even bother with an SAFC, I'd do fuel system maintenance and try cleaning/replacing your air filter. I got an extra 5 mpg by cleaning my filters last time!! But all of this is just MY opinion.......

PFC is for the 3rd gen primarily. I know you can get them from Japan for the FC, but I don't know of anyone doing that.

With that said, I used a s-afc on my old n/a 90 Rx-7 with some great HP results, mut no much as far as milage. CJ
