Good News for me Too!!!!!!!!!!!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Many thanks to RICKRX7 who went to Walla Walla with me armed with a 13/16 spark plug socket and jumper cables and ©ØÐËߣüË & bstrange99 for the phone tech support. Pulled the plugs and the rear trailing plug was wet so called Brian and he told me how to disable the fuel pump, FB's unflood alot easier than FC's, fired it up on about the 10th try and she pured like a kitty. Margaret (mk.jones63) came up from Richland and drove her home. Mint interior, just need a new dome light cover and fuse box cover. 50,198 miles on the engine, no UV damage to the body or iinterior! After the owner watched Rick and me fix the car I wasn't sure she was still going to sell it. So then we took it for a test drive. The owner was in shock. As soon as we got back from the test drive we got out the owner got right in and took her own test drive. When she got back she said she was going to pull the car off Ebay and not sell it. I made her an offer and she decided to call her mechanic who told her the apex seal was blown. He must have told her that he could never have made a mistake and take the $.

Margaret is officialy a very happy rotor head now.

Don, Glad to help & I'm also glad that you found a jewel at a bargain price.
It was good for you that she called her "tech" for reassurance after it was running so well.

Piston mechanics are funny. any little issue and the first thing they say is "apex seals are shot. These little rotaries are famous for that." will they ever learn how simple they are?

I think you took this completly wrong Chris. Im not stabbing you in the back, why would I. Especially you taking the time to look for a car for me, and take me around to look for one. So on open forum I apologize for my bad choice of words. I would love for you to work on this car cause you know this car better than anyone else. My intentions are not to be a hurtful person, Id hope you would know that. I know theres going to be a long road ahead on this car, it needs help. I just dont want to bug you to death, but if you dont mind being bugged then hey the car is all yours, for all credit. If willing Id like to get this car is top shape again. I know many hours will need to be spent on it. Id like for you to come over or me come over and you drive it so you can see what its doing, but (not on the freeway with me in the car).lol

If your still willing can we look at the immediate problem that the car is having. Its rough until you get past 40mph. I think tuning. High speeds its great. I think you had mentioned this on friday. Also, I think the throwout bearing is bad, but not sure. Geoff left parts.

I think the main problem here is that were not use to people like you on the east side. All of you are so much different than when we lived in Seattle. Everyone over here is more family orientated. We are still outsiders and don't want to push ourselves on any of you.

K... that's cool. I'd love to put some more time and love into that car. It spent almost a year at my house, and I loved it like it was mine. I was honestly hurt when you wanted someone else to work on it. Please feel free to call me and let me know what you want done on it.

To let you know, Webbers are finicky. You can get one tuned just right and the next day it will drive differently. It's not like a fuel injection system at all. What I'd like to do is pass on as much knowledge as I have to Dave.

There's really very little that car actually needs.

From the symptoms I was hearing that you were having, no offense, but it sounds like driving style. that thing needs to be wrapped up and wrapped up every time. "granny driving" is NOT smooth at all in that car, however quickly getting up to 30 and cruising will be. Am I making sense?

To explain it quickly, the turbo isn't spinning up quickly, and it's not getting smooth airflow with slow acceleration.

Let me know when you want me to fiddle with it.

Suggested parts purchases:

new wires - they were good years ago, but they've been on that car a long time and were used with MSD, so they've got a lot of wear on them.

plugs... 88 TII plugs

Cap, rotor

Lots of 2 stroke oil.

future suggested mods: 2nd gen ignition system for Leading coils. (just purchase the 2nd gen leading coil, I'll do the rest.)

bigger turbo

Na its not my granny driving. Dave has the same problem while driving the car, theres a lot of hesitation, yes probably due to plugs, wires, etc. He is not a granny driver. You should drive it here soon so you can see whats going on. And on a side note...lol Im not as innocent of a driver as you might think, and No keith you can not drive on the freeway with me. The only person I trust now on the freeway is me.

I will grab the wires, cap, plugs, rotor this weekend. I know the throwout bearing needs to be replaced here very soon also. Geoff left that part.

Dave would love to learn from you. He has had to learn blue inside and out, so Im sure he is up for another.

I did not mean to hurt you, I just didnt want to bother you on a regular basis. After Blue is done with this next project were having done, we will be putting much more into Iotus. Will get together here soon so you can show me what I need to purchase for the ignition sys. Id like to get Iotus fixed up very nice, and hopefully give him another paint job (same color) by next summer.

So what are you doing this weekend
Fiddle with it any time your up for it

You provide the beer, I'll work on the car.

Saturday good?

Webbers are easy... prolly some of the easiest carbs to work with. It's like they were designed to be played with.

How come all the 2 stroke oil? What ratio are you mixing that at?

12A's last longer and most of the time an equivelent 13b will only make about 10hp more, in pre 85 engines the only difference is that the rotors, housings and shaft are 10mm wider. plates are therefor interchangable. the 12A is an amazingly reliable engine.

Sorry for getting a little off topic. Rotortuner are we talking stock engines? because the 13b puts out approx 30hp more than a 12a. I give respect for those who like the 12a's but I feel as if 13b's are really where the meal ticket are. As far as durability...my GSL-SE has 180k on it and is still running strong.

when you get a 30hp difference you car comparing a 6 port 13b to a 4 port 12a. keep in mind the difference in intake duration. Look at the difference in hp between a 4 port 12a and a 4 port 13b both in stock form. If you put together a 12a on gslse plates it would likely come within 10-15 hp as well. I agree with you on the reliability of the SE's IMO those were no doubt the most reliable 13b's made.

So you can have extra. I've rarely seen it at gas stations. It's always good to have an extra bottle in the bin when you're out driving around.

oh, and 1 oz per gallon has been doing really well.

Oh OK. Have you thought about mabe running a little less, thats like 128 to 1. I just remember that car detonating like a mother and i honestly cant believe it hastnt blown up. I wonder it that may have been caused by to much premix which would have effectivly lowered the octain rating of te fuel and contributed to the detonation problems?

Ok, settle down you two.

This is the first car I have ever had to use premix. I was also told to put some MMO in the fuel? This is also the first webber set up.

So I really dont know that much about the car.

So Enlighten Me.....

1oz to every gallon is good. it's a nice easy number. I'm sure you don't want to sit and do math at the damned gas station. Since the car has been sitting for so long, I highly recommend putting MMO in the fuel as well. Lower the amount of premix you put in there when you do that. You can run MMO only for premix, but it doesn't have all the lubricating qualities as 2 stroke, so I wouldn't recommend it. (Gregs) Try doing half and half.

Now that was a DCOE right? 40 or 45, i thought there was some confusion, because it had a different main carb body or something. Any ways, just curious what jets and imulsion tubes it was running befor and what its running now, should probably be running f7 or f11 tubes with around 200 mains?
