repair shop recommendations for Seattle area
repair shop recommendations for Seattle area
I have a bone stock '85 GSL-SE in Seattle. She's got a little over 122k miles.
Up until last week, her major problems were a very noisy transmission in need of a rebuild/replace and a dying idle solenoid valve (according to the Mazda dealer). Then last week, she quit running altogether. She turns over just fine but won't fire up. (Can a dead idle solenoid cause this?)
I'm going to be spending the weekend trying to revive her using information I've gathered from various threads here but, if I can't, would somebody please recommend a good place to tow her to in the Seattle area for some reasonably-priced TLC? Or does somebody make house calls?
Assuming this condition is not terminal, I'd also like to get recommendations for the transmission work, new paint, and misc body parts (door hinges, window regulators, etc).
Thanks.

You would be hard put to find anyone better than Jeff Clark at Jeff's Executive Auto in Puyallup to work on your first gen. He can help you with a used tansmission, or build you one that is better than they were from the factory.
Jerry's Little Car has been a primo shop for decades and I don't have a bad thing to say about them either, but the last time I was there was quite a while ago and even then they were moving away from working on rotaries.
Good Luck with your problem.

Thanks to all of you for your feedback. And thanks to the posts from several of you on this site, I was able to get my FB running again. Yes, she was just flooded. I'm taking her to Jerry next week to see what he can do to get her back in good shape.
Thanks again!
