Thumbs up Rebuilt motor FINALLY runs..with slight problems.

so. for the past week or so ive been fighting with my motor to start. Which we finally did by pushing it with another car. We did that a couple times and let it sit idling at 2k with something propped on the throttle.

It does not hold its own idle. it WILL if you leave it sometimes but as soon as you start revving it stops holding idle and dies.

flashforward to today, i walked outside. got in and turned the key and it started right up. This is the first time it has done it on its own. Idled at 1.5k I revved it a bit to 4 then let off and it held still. Then revved to 3k, let off and no more idle. it wont start on its own anymore and i dont know where to go next. I could push start agian but i want to fix that idle issue. I know i dont have any leaks from what ive checked.

I dont know if my springs a nd seals have settled just yet niether so maybe thats still the issue

well theres your problem. im guessing you used a lot of the old stuff. thats why is giving you hell. you need to get it started and drive it. i remember for the first 150-200 miles i would have to wait about 2hours between starts. and the more i drove it the easier it was to start. but sometimes i would have to put oil in the housing in order to get it to fire off.

si. We did use alot. Reused apex, new springs and corner seals. O rings new as well as the otehr seals.

I just got it to start up by putting oil in the bottom holes.
Still wont idle on its own. I kept it running for about 20 min then drove it around for 5 trying not to let off the gas.

its most likely due to the rebuild. i think i read somewhere dont even try to make it idle till you get a few miles on it. same with the tps

ok well it didnt start this morning. So i guess it isnt a matter of cold and hot starts.

I used oil again in the leading holes and did not touch the gas. It started up and held idle on it own. I got video of it then stopped about a min through cause i walked out to grab food. then came back to the car slowly dying.

It did not sputter, just like...died. I assume cause it used up the oil i had in there.

would putting ATF in the plug holes help expand the springs and seals instead of regular oil?

I drove it around for awhile lastnight. Probably a good hour and a half. Killed the car twice on a hill because i forgot to hold gas while i braked and shifted to nuetral.

everythings still the same. Wont start on its own, no idle. Havent noticed anything yet but im taking it out once more tonight to see if anythings changed.

I knew it was a maf on the FC, but all in all its 2 differant parts that do basically the same thing, and tell the ecu the amount of air is presant and how much fuel is needed. I just reasked the question not even thinking about it, My brain only works when it has to.

oooooooo. I smell animosityy :]
jkjk

So Noxi came over and we played with timing. NOthing drastic.

Advanced it a bit. The car now starts up everytime if you put oil in the plug holes.
Took it for a quick spin around a local lake and it ran quite well. :]

Got home, restarted it and worked more on getting it to idle to find out its now breaking itself into pieces..No compression. And my seals are blown.....

KIDDING. It now idles at 300. lol it dies and comes back fighting to stay alive which is good.

No animosity from me. anyone that has ever met me knows that I'm just a goofball, I joke around alot. I misuse words, There has only been a few times that I've actually gotten frustrated over a internet debate. But I think I'm mostly alright with everyone I've gotten into an argument with.

No I just wanted to clarify that. I didn't even catch that I made the mistake. But I did in fact know That FC's have a MAF, but I couldn't tell you much about a FD...... but when I do eventually weasel my way into a FD, I'll figure it out. Cant help but take it apart. I have a problem my mom and girlfriend tell me.

anyways congrats on the motor getting better. but yeah we don't joke about apex seal failure, and no compression. better knock on glass and save your ***.
