Project butt ugly, toyota and chevy
So I put up an ad on craigslist looking for metal and trading my fab skills for it. a guy got back to me and said that he had a bunch of really good metal, strips and angle iron and the like, and had a project that he just didnt have time for. it started with a 1988 toyota tacoma that had a tree fall on the cab, and he tore the roof off it, and then he had this 1929 chevy car cab that he got from .... ? ... anyways, i finally got approval from him to widen the cab and the front hood support section, and this is just a general idea of what were going for with it, sorry for the cruddy picture, it was from my cell...

i just shoved the front half of the cab and the hood on to get a general idea of what its going to look like. were actually going to be mounting the windshield support about a foot farther back then where it is in the picture. also he puroposely wants it to look like crap, so im not going to be coating or painting any of the welds or any exposed metal, at least thats the way he wants it, im probably going to at least paint the welds so that it stays together for at least a little while. anyways, opinions comments flames lets have em.
o and when i do get it done im going to take it to the first car show that comes to town with the goal of getting "Worst of Show"..

Rustorods can be Creative
I photographed a Rustorod at the Ford annual picnic in Bellevue a couple of years ago. One nice touch was the exhaust hanger just ahead of the rear wheel - a steel connecting rod welded to the frame. I never have found anyone who can identify the original four door body of this one.
Your body piece set in place on the chassis reminds me of the RX-7 I built 20 years ago. Dennis Hayes (Hayes Rotary) was about to scrap an old RX-2 that no one wanted to restore, and I grabbed it, cut off the rear end and grafted it to the RX-7. When I first had it set in place (see photo), everyone was skeptical, but it turned out pretty well.
Good luck with yours, and I hope it turns out as ugly as you want.
