Pricing Advice?
hello again, and thank you all for your advice on mazdatech in mukilteo. we're heading there this week if andy is in town.
once i get the key situation addressed i want to sell this car. it's a long story how i came about getting this car, but i never intended to keep it... so, i'm hoping you mazda enthusiasts might help me out with some advice on price.
it's a 1988 rx7, convertible, black with grey leather interior. it has really great mag wheels and new tires. under the hood looks very good and clean. the previous owner took good care of it and it appears all is well under the hood. the leather interior is showing wear, but is intact. no rust, paint is in pretty good shape. the ragtop is also in good shape. i have had two minor repairs made to the ragtop on the bottom, near the hinges -- this must be a common area for this. it's on both sides. the repairs look good though and are quite small (tennis ball size i'd say) and inconspicuous.
the mileage is 176,000. according to kelly blue book the price would be $4595 excellent, $4,135 good, and $3,535 fair. The car is easily in good condition category.
whaddya think?
thanks,
diana

For a Vert start at $4,500 and see if you get any bites... There's always room to reduce price. Not so much room to raise it... Just set yourself a base price of $4,000, but start high at $4,500 and see what happens. Then come down in maybe $100 increments if you're not getting enough interest. It's a lot like selling a house... Which is what I do so I would know =)
Unless it's in exceptional condition for it's age an mileage I would say about $4k would be the most you could get for it. That might take awhile though as it's not exactly convertible weather around here.

I remember that car!! There are some priced ridiculously high because it's a "collector" car. But no one is willing to pay twice the value of a car because the seller thinks it's a "collector" car. However, I have seen MANY verts for sale over $9k with low and high mileage and also seen some for around 10k with an REW swap and a big single turbo... But I don't know if they sell them or just stop trying cuz after several months the for sale ads disappear. Probably cuz the car isn't selling....
