Possible clutch trouble? Please help.

I'm really puzzled about this one. My car starts to lurch semi-violently when in low rpms as if the clutch were slipping but gradually catches and when I start out in first after a dead stop it wants to kill the engine so I have to pump the gas. When in high rpms though I wouldn't even know there is a problem. This problem only occurs when the engine is completely warmed up and happens only once or twice a week and seems to go away once i let the car sit for a while. I'm thinking that its probably the clutch, maybe tranny and even less likely a vacuum leak since it happens only when the engines warm. Any help diagnosing this would be much appreciated. thank you rotary gurus.

doesnt sound like the case, when a clutch is slipping the car wont be accelerating... also from a stop instead of the car tring to die, it would rev up and wouldnt want to move hardly....

sounds alot more like a bad adjustd tps, is this for example around 1000-2000 rpm while cruizing or slightly acelerating,or slightly deacllerating, the car lurches back and forth, ( kinda like if u were ON then OFF the gas real violently for a second??)

this would be a TPS adjustment ( or worn out sensor, with dead spots), it confuses the ecu thinking your on the gas then off when really your just maintaining throttle. its a pretty common problme half of my FC do this type of thing...

actually i dont knwo what car u have, but if its a 2nd gen 86-91 then this applys

Actually my car is an 80 with an 83 engine(i.e. 12a carbeurated). You confirmed my fear of this problem not being a cut and dry one. I guess I was being optimistic when I thought it was the clutch or tranny. Do you have any suggestions of how I can confirm that this problem is throttle related. I just don't want to bother pumping any money or effort into the carb I have now considering that I'm planning on installing a new holley carb in the near future. By the way does anyone reccomend any other brand carb such as a weber over holley?
