Playing with carbs

Well, I finally got a chance to swap in my new 44 IDF. I took an educated guess at jetting, and must have gotten it pretty damned close first try! I'll have to post again after a few days driving her, but it is certainly smoother feeling than the 45 dcoe I pulled off. I had a pair of 6" ram tubes on it to start, Actually worked quite nice! Looked kick *** too, but I couldn't run with the hood on. So, I went back to the stock ones. I don't like it enough to cut a hole in my hood just yet. LOL

I also got my Innovate LM-1 wideband and DB gauge setup, but have to have the bung put in so I can hook it up and get a "real" tune on my carbs. Got the parts I needed for my Dellorto soon to be here too, then I'll swap it on and try it out. With the wideband, I should be able to tune all three to optimum and see which I prefer.

Here's a pic pre-install from this morning.

Would you be interested in trading one of those setups that could be jetted for a street ported motor for a RB street ported holley kit by chance? PM me if you are interested...

pinoyremix - Got my chokes and e-tubes today, so the Dellorto will be on soon.

RotorMotorDriver - pm'ed you on your question.

So far, contrary to what most people say, the 44 is not too small for a street port IMO. Actually the low end is more responsive and smooth, I do seem to have a small stutter/hesitation at about 2750 to 3000 rpm's, so I'll have to play a little with the mains to see if that is the issue. But considering all I've done so far is guess at the jetting, bolt it on and adjust idle and mixture, I'm quite pleased.
