PIR Autocross Results!
Yay! I wasn't dead last!
I went to my third autocross yesterday down at PIR with the ORPCA. Brought the RX-7 and John (ThunderCougarFalconGoat) brought his 2005 GTO. The course was HUGE and really FAST. We both ended up in the first run group (cloudy and cold) but that meant we worked in the nice sun.
We got 4 runs each (and we both scored a ride with reigning STU National Champ James Paulson in his White STI, apparently I screamed ). Once again I did not hit a single cone (further supporting my theory that the cones weigh more then my FB and therefore I hit them, but I bounce off). Started with a 69.xxx and ended with a 66.975. Not bad for a 25 year old, 230,000 mile, all-original, never rebuilt 12A on 185/70/13 Toyo SPECTRUM's!!!
John managed to make a fool of himself on the first run by spinning after the finish line and taking out a dozen cones in the slow-down area! He started with a 71 and 3 cones (not including the shut down ones), then a 70 with 2, then a clean 69, and ended with a 66.961 mere minutes after me (the bastard!).
The final results were posted today Results and we did alright! John got 19th and I got 20th out of a class of 27. We beat out an M3, a few Miata's, a 240SX, a Z4, a CRX, and the Cooper S was really a 71 Roadrunner (REALLY nice car!). Overall we did even better with 49th and 50th out of 61! The other victims included a classic 911, a Boxster, and a 951. It was only John's second and my third autocross (though only my second in the RX-7). I also really, REALLY need some tires! (Damn near every car there is on full-on DOT summer tires or R-Compound Race Slicks)
We're super happy about the day and the results! We'll be back at the July one, but before that is an SCCA Autocross at PIR this weekend and an HPDE (Track Day) next weekend. Fun times!
I have over 100 pictures and some dozen videos from the event (the camera is starting to smoke from the download...) but I'll have links up to them soon!
We also had Josh out in his scary-fast LS1-swapped FC RX-7. Here's a teaser pic of him picking up a wheel! I have a video of his complete first run as well.

Forgot to mention some things!
We met Spyder from the RX7 Club there (with his gorgeous Black FD RX-7) but he was turned away (too many cars!) so he took a bunch of photos for me. A Red FD was there as well but I didn't catch the name, it was beautiful and ran well on the course!
There was also an Arial Atom there! :omg: I'd never seen one up close let alone RACING so it was a treat! Unfortunately for him Josh's LS1 RX-7 destroyed him! Josh came in 29th Overall and 11th in class beating the Atom, an 02 M3, a turbo'd Corvair, and a GT3 that were all on r-compounds! Way to go Josh! If I ever get some discretionary cash before he finds a buyer, I'm sooooo buying that car... (Trade you the FB or the 'Vic Josh, your choice!)

Working on it! The pics and vids are on my computer but I need to place to host them. There's 100+ pics and 6+ videos including an entire video of Josh's first run! Where can I host them?

this coming weekend, both sat and sun! two per day, for a total of 4 autox's. scca hosted.
show up before 8am, cost is $25 per event, and you need a $15 temp membership. it lasts 5 days, so you only have to pay the 15 once, even if you run all events that weekend.
requirements- battery must be secure, wheel bearings not loose (they shake the wheel), all lug nuts must be present. thats about it! oh and no obvious fluid leaks (like they cant see anything actually dripping on the ground).

Sorry! I'm a little busy :P
I graduate college tomorrow, start my new job on Monday, and we're re-siding the house! All on top of my 2 cars, her car, John's 2 cars, my neighbors 2 cars, and building a race motor.
I'll try tonight!
