Passing Emissions with a JDM S5 Engine...

Well, as some of you may or may not read around the forum, I'm getting a JDM S5 engine installed in my car this week to replace a warped engine. My tags expire in febuary (sp?) and well, I need to pass emissions to keep my car on the road. I've heard these engines rarely to never pass emissions, so I was wondering what suggestions you guys had? I'm an Oregon driverl, so no *ridiculous* emissions standards, but still.

One of my options is, I have a friend who lives in Mollala, which doesn't test for emissions, they just give you your plate with the correct amount of money. So I was thinking maybe he could *buy* it from me, have the tags replaced, and *sell* it back to me? Or is that a bad idea? I'd like to hear from you guys.

What? Oregon has emission testing in some areas? All i did was give them like 60 bucks, and they said come back in 2 years when these expire. That included my transfer of title to my name in the cost.

You could move to a place where you won't have to get the car emissions tested. In Oak Harbor WA, they don't have emission laws, so you don't have to get the car tested. So if you are that worried maybe get the car registered under an address in that area. Bad thing about Oak Harbor now is that they passed a law recently that makes any exhaust that does not appear stock in sound or apperance illegal. Freakin anti-tuners, and don't think for a second that they'll include muscle cars or trucks with loud *** exhausts on those in the enforcement, Oak Harbor cops target tuners like no other. They'll pull you over and try to find or make up a reason to give you a ticket.

That's why I was thinking about "Selling" to my friend in Mollala, OR which is exempt from emissions testing.

Can't you just drive to another county's DMV and register it there as long as you are obviously still in an Oregon county?

heres what u can do...

if you fail emissions take your emissions sheet to a certified emissions specialist and have them spend at least $150 " attempting" to fix it, you can apply for a waiver.

so you instruct the shop to ONLY spend exactly 150 dollars no more... have em do a tune up or somethin dumb?

then u can go to a emission place and if u fail again, u can apply for a waiver and you wont need to " try" to pass emissions for another 2 yrs

its simple guys!

Dude... it's really easy. Put all the emissions crap on from your USDM S5 engine. Don't forget to connect the air pump. I've done it this year with 3 JDM engines. No problems. I even used a corvette air pump on one because I couldn't find my pully driven one. You have to have a cat that had an air pump pipe too.

the buy back thing works, thats how my buddy got his car registered. some say its fraudlent, i say its beating the system. another good one is register ur car somewhere else. cops pull u over say u came up here to see some friends n might stay a while or o i moved just a couple weeks ago or some crap like that. most likely the cops wont care at all.
