??overheating question??

what is the most common reason for an FC to overheat?

i found an FC, but the owner said that it just developed an overheating problem. i havn't gone down there yet to look at it, so i was just wondering what i should be looking out for ahead of time.

Depending how fast you are talking about it overheating, a bad water seal can do this. That would make it happen pretty quick and pretty severely. Also check for an air bubble in the coolant system. I have never had an air bubble that made that much trouble but I think I've heard of it happening.

The procedure for testing for a bad water seal is to pull EGI fuse under the hood to disable the fuel, remove the radiator fill cap and watch for bubbles when someone turns the motor over.

Bad water seals don't happen on a regular basis on an engine that is built right. It is possible for them to go out early but every once in a while you see one on an old engine fail with time or just dry up.

I had the same problem so I took off the shroud and put on a electric fan and it stays nice and cool
