WA odd misfire

Car is 84 gs with 13b pineapple 6 port, side draft dellarto, stock ignition, header electric fans. the problem started about 1 week ago and I have been chasing it since.

the condition is good cold start, but after 2 or 3 minutes under light throttle is will misfire and pop a few times, low on power. drive a short distance and is will go away and run good again.

So did complete tune up with wires included, new fuel filter, cleaned carb, still doing it, it is random when it misfires. The only key is it seems to be trailing 2 that has the problem. when spark checking when it is misfiring t2 makes no change when pulling the plug wire, all others are dropping rpm when pulled.

My thought was if it was a vacuum leak it would be there all the time not so random. could a failing trailing igniter cause this type of problem? Did I miss something in the carb, was really clean to start with.

thoughts........

does the tach drop erratically when it it happening? a bad trailing igniter would cause some minor performance issues, but if its a leading igniter the car will barely run ( glowing header possibly) and the tach will drop when this is happening...( tach runs off the leading ignitor on the 1st gen I believe)

I think your probably on the right track with the ignitors though

you could try swaping the leading and trailing ignitors and see if it runs any better or worse if you don't have any spares laying around.

yes,
Problem was leading igniter, engine still ran but it was failing, so we have converted to msd and 45000 volt .06 ohm coils, all is well again

what plug is that? my dad finally got his 1st gen going with the s4 6 port and 48dco side draft. he scored an msd box too may install that as well one of these days.

felt pretty good driving it around the block punching it , I couldn't really get it to idle very well at all tho. but I don't really mess with carbs ever...
