Cool Jerry's Little Car Shop is the place to go!

It's run by the son of the guy that used to have Hayes Rotary. They still do a lot of work with rotary engines. I stopped by to talk to the owner once and there were a bunch of RX-7s floating around.
I got a complete rebuild with new seals, cases and clutch by Jerry himself:
Jerry's Little Car Shop in Kent WA. Jerry's Little Car Shop - Mazdas Only .Com - Kent, Washington
He used to prep race engines and did an awesome job on my '90 RX7 convertible. Runs like new!

Can anyone recommend a shop in the Bellingham area that might be willing to work on a conversion? I have an 82 Vanagon Westy that is powered by a n/a FC motor that runs but not great. Hoping to get it on the road this spring so I can at least drive it to work and back. I called a few shops but no one was willing to touch it.

Also, this van was purchased from Mazda's & More in Kent back in 1998 but it looks like they are no longer in business. It's unclear if they did the conversion or if the owner did. Anyone know if this was something they got into?

I'm not sure how far Seattle is from your exact location, but Legend Motorsports has a great reputation. You can find them on facebook. I think they primarily do engine rebuilds, but they could likely help or point you in the right direction.

Everett is about an hour away. Too far to get a diagnoses but close enough to send for rebuild or repair. Thanks for the suggestion!

Good luck. I’ve heard a few people who’ve had their rotaries tuned at intec but I’m hesistant just because of how finicky these cars can be. Force fed in BC has a great rep. I know tuned by Shawn has etuned a big power fc locally, maybe check him out.

I believe Legend Motorsports is no longer around. My engine was the very last to be re-rebuilt by them. The owner ended up moving back to Detroit.

Does anyone know if Force Fed in BC is still around, not seeing anything in recent social media posts?

*Mods: Feel free to move to a different section if more appropriate*

Thought this would be the best place to post this, even though its been almost a year since last post:
I found a 93' RX7 with a IRP engine that was 90% installed almost 8-10 years ago and has sat in a garage ever since near Bellingham, WA. I was wondering what shops close by (maybe BC to Seattle) could give me a general quote for checking it out and getting it running (This forum last mentioned Intec and Force-fed Performance). I think it just needed the Vmount finished, an O2 sensor drilled in the exhaust/hooked up and other small misc (ApexiFC has been base tuned). I can give further details to the shop. I understand the motor probably has to be taken apart and most of the seals are shot after this long (among other things), but just wanted to see if it would be worth it to pursue or if I should go another direction. I appreciate any leads on this.

Cheers!

ForceFed Performance is a great option.
The engine will/should run - but will likely suffer from weak springs, reducing compression. Now this may only be a few percent, so it's up to you if you want to invest in a "rebuild" to ensure longevity.
If you were down in PDX, I'd offer to take it on - but I'm a bit swamped ATM. GL!

Contact Tom Shirk on facebook. He rebuilt my transmission and specializes only in Mazda transmissions. He's out in poulsbo and a real standup guy.
