Newbie Wants A 1st Gen!

Ok, so Im not really a newbie. But I do want a first gen again...

Is it just me or is there a shortage of them around here? Ive been keeping my eyes open for one to get myself into again, but I just haven't found anything yet.

I either want a running "parts car" so I can rebuild mine again, or a good condition runner I can just enjoy, yet neither seem to be showing up.

Seriously though, I guess I'm just kinda trying to vent. I went to look at one tonight, and it was a decent parts car, ran good, but it had the dreaded oil leak on top of the housing. Damn those O-Rings... I'm tempted to pick it up anyway, but I just don't want to deal with the hassle of that damn leak. I drove it a few blocks, and by the time I got back it had a small puddle right on top of the 12A on the front housing, so its not like it was even a really slow leak.

Bah, I guess thats the end of my rant. Anyone else feel like they cant find what they're looking for?

Ok, let me somewhat rephrase. I pretty much know where to look, Im just not finding anything lately, and Im getting a little depressed by it.

Although, in general, it seems back when I was bigger into this game every other thread in the for sale section was something for sale, not someone wanting something. Hence my comment about there seeming to be a shortage of these cars lately.

They have been going up in price lately, I've noticed.

As a shameless plug, how about this one?
(For sale at the shop I work at.)

I just posted in the thread that Jeff started about it wondering where it was and how much.

Im not too big of a fan of that color scheme though, I hate red. I just don't like it. Not even for that price, which seems fair with the rebuilt motor. Sorry, but thanks!

^ Heh, no problem. Just thought I'd throw it out there.

There's also a black '85 with a pretty recent rebuild, but it's an automatic.

Yeah, saw the auto. I have all the parts to convert it to a 5 speed, but Id rather not have to work on it that much right after buying it, haha.

Like I said, Im looking for something I can just get in and enjoy, or something I can use parts from to rebuild mine. Pretty much looking for things on the complete opposite end of the spectrum, haha.

I guess my thinking is, if I do any work on RX-7s, its gonna be on mine.

The auto is an '84. It's actually pretty nice, and quick for an auto. Those T2 rotor housings and the carb mods really let it shine. The header exhaust helps too.

The other car is orange and black. It's kind of a gold metalic orange. No red at all. The pictures don't do it justice.

Uh... T2 housings for a 12A? I don't think so. Do you mean 12AT housings? I thought the exhaust ports on those were smaller than the stock ports on a NA 12A? Just curious

I meant to say 12A turbo rotor housings. You got me there.

The exhaust ports are bigger. Why do you think they'd be smaller? Just curious.

Doesn't make much sense to make them smaller since they were designed to spool a turbo, and I think we all know how restrictive US-spec 12A exhaust ports are.

There are pictures of the outside of the 12A turbo exhaust ports in the 1st gen section and the modded intake components. After you see those pictures you're going to want to buy the '84.
