new sig trouble
new sig trouble
i don't think i should post this in here, yet i know it won't stay anywhere else. I have recently had an engine go after 17,000 miles cause of some flaking housings. I can't say who built it cause they have been crying about some of my posts. and my old sig. so after being told i could not use there name cause they are sponsors or something( wich i understand) even though they built a crapy motor, or a good motor out of crapy parts. so a few of my posts have been moved from one section to another, was asked not to use there name. i've been abiding. so i redid my sig ( wich was made to show people what parts were in my engine) and got rid of there name. sounded like it was what they wanted. no where in the sig did it have there name. well, now the new sig is gone also. so anyways, how do i make a sig that shows my CRAPY ENGINE parts without haveing it erased? I got rid of the name, do i just not show the parts that i feel others should see? kinda pisses me off.

Regardless of the decisionmaking process the mods went through to arrive at the point where they delete or modify a post, thread, or signature, I think it's stupid that they take action without making it privately and publicly known *why* the action was taken, as well as ways to avoid it in the future, such as what you're asking. Had whatever mod that was responsible for removing your sig came to you and said "hey, you can't do this ****, so it's been removed, but here is what you can do if you'd like to keep the sig and comply with our rules..." but instead you're here posting because the mod in question was to chickenshit to own up.
But hey, whatever floats their boat...it's their forum, we just post in it...ultimately somebody will come in with the "merciless attitude" that says "hey, I did it, I dont have to tell you why, you should already know better, if you don't like it then GTFO --->, end of discussion " or some other weak cop-out.

Kettlman,
You can blame me for movement of your threads to the "Good guy bad guy section". I personally explained to you why threads were moved and why your signature had to be edited through pm's and phone. I by no means have to explain to a whole forum Why threads were moved and signatures edited. If you have a problem then I would make a complaint to one of the Admins.
If you really want your opinion voiced, let me know and I will talk to one of the admins about how you can go about all this without deletions so we all can come up with happy medium.
Feel free to call me or pm me.

this post is to get opinions on what my new sig should be since obviously i can't have the one without their name on it. should i make different pics of the same things? or should i just leave it with no sig? obviously certain people liked it when their motor was being displayed befor, yet not now that i'm displaying it to show the inside. thats all. is there some creative way i can make the sig to show the chipped housings and broken seal without it being disapproved of? thats what i wanna know, if anybody has any creative ways i can make and see if it works.

Neither of these concerns were even touched on.

If that's true, then why did she bother replying? The reply still didn't give any useful information relating to your actual question, did it?
The fact remains that if whoever did it would have simply told you so, and why, this post wouldn't be here. The communication skills utilized on this forum are excellent

I don't think that it was so much of a certain moderator that had the problem with the sig I think that it went a little higher then that. Personally we should never hold the moderators fully responsible since in a way they are puppet for the bigger guys. I also do not think that they have done anything wrong.
Kettleman, I think that you should do exactly what you said. Just make a sig that says "these are parts that you should not use in your engine" Or "learn from my mistake, build it yourself"
No blame towards to one individual/organization but yet still allows people to gain a little knowledge.

Wait.... So... If I become a sponsor on here I can get posts deleted and do all sorts of crazy ****? Rad! Where's my checkbook?!
What's a forum for if you aren't sharing opinions and information?
I understand bad taste and blatant insulting and all that, but just because someone is a sponsor doesn't mean they should get special privileges.

Eagle. In some ways I totally agree with you. I think that one of the greatest things about this forum is that there is a lot of personal experience here. People don't sugar coat things...If a shop has done bad work for them it is their right to say so. There is nothing personal with it...it is part of business.
On the other hand though a certain amount of peace need to be kept. If the moderators/admin do not step in then all hell could break loose. When it comes down to it we are all rotary enthusiasts.
If a shop made a mistake then they should learn from what they have done. We are not perfect by any means.

Oh definitely, agreed. But if someone pays money (and I am NOT pointing fingers at anyone, and i mean ANYONE) and then makes shitty stuff, do they have the right to get that erased just because they are lining the admin's pockets?
I would hope not!
I aggree with eagle. I think its BS, and i dont think it says any where in the users agreement when you sign up that you cant do what kettleman did. I mean why would the owners of this forum even want to advertise for a company that they know may very well be selling crappy engines or parts? Then on top of it all, try and keep potential customers from finding out the "truth" or other peoples experience by editing peoples posts and sigs? I think its all bogus and crappy of the people that run this site! SHAME ON THEM!!!

I agree no amount of money should be able to pay for getting threads erased. They should only be erased if a certain vulgarity/ inapproiate behavior is enclosed. Like said before that is what is great about this forum!
I agree that if a shop makes a customer unhappy that it be allowed to be posted no matter who they are. I'm even guilty of that, as I have had some bad experiences myself.
Here in the forum we have certain places for such threads to be displayed. "Good guy bad guy" section. All the following threads were moved to the "Good guy bad guy" section, not deleted. It was all the bickering that went on back and forth, and the curt words that were used in one of the threads about said company, that brought on the attention. My job is to keep peace, not have arguments.
As far as Kettlmans signature, I see nothing wrong with the second signature that he had displayed. It was accidently removed by Merciless. Merciless applogized, and again allowed Kettlman to display it as he had it.

Talk about your buying & selling experiences with other individuals.
The company in question is not an indidual but a company. therefor does not really fall under that description. That forum is supposed to be used in conjuction with buying things out the for sale or WTB forums. You go in there and see if those "INDIVIDUALS" have ripped people off. Companys have their own forum for posted stuff for sale or are not allowed to post for sale since its free advertising. Also that thread should have remained in the NW section because it is directly Pertinent, since that company is in our area, and the threads intent was to show people in this area the quality of parts that are used by that shop. If you still think that stuff should be posted in good guy bad guy, then why do i recall about 7-8 threads started by yourself within the past 1.5 years proclaiming how ausome this same shop was for hauling your car to CA, building engines, tuning, explaining, family, etc. Under your interpretation all of that crap should have been posted in the good guy bad guy also?????????????????????? You honestly have me quite baffled....

Second, by your reasoning, using forum sections for what they're meant for, and since you obviously think good guy/bad guy isn't the proper place for it, what do you think the regional sections are for? The regional sections were made to PLAN regional events and get togethers. They were not made with the intention to bash local companies in 10 page long threads like we've seen lately. They have evolved, however, from what they were originally intended for to allow for sale/wtb stickies and other information. Look up at the top, there is a sticky for shops specifically. If you have a problem with a shop or local company, post it there but ONLY make it 1 post. Put in your piece in a calm and respectful manner, and be done with it. The sticky should also not turn into a flame fest.
If you want locals to know about this stuff, then fine, get the admins to create a "proper" forum by your view to do so, but if good guy/bad guy isn't proper by your twisting standards, than neither is the regional EVENTS forum.
