I think to save some frustration, you might wanna learn by surfing the forum rather than WORKING on your car... I've never had ANY luck working on my car, something always breaks and these cars can really be a PITA for some things. But welcome to the club. have a feeling you'll enjoy your 7 much more than your previous cars, as I enjoy it much more than when I had my Acura. As far as a good shop I'm not familiar with shops on the peninsula so I can't help you there... But if you're looking for good info keep an eye on the 3rd gen forum and do some searching before you make any decisions... Too bad you bought an AUTO..........
Congrats on the buy. Did you get a good deal on an Auto or was that your preference? As Mazdatim said you're best bet for info is to visit the 3rd Gen Section of the forum. If you're patient enough to search and sift through the threads, pretty much everything you need to know is literally in there. And don't forget about the FAQ sticky at the top of the 3rd gen section.
Like others have already said, memorize all the info in this thread:

Like others have said, read up and the car will treat you right. Seriously read the FAQ's. Theyre full of really good info. Ill read them time to time and still learn something even after all these years. Welcome to the club.
What do you need a turbo timer for and what is wrong with the brakes? The only reputable rotary shops as far as checking out a 3rd gen goes are around Tacoma or Portland. You might be able to find someone from the forum who knows 3rd gens well nearby but there aren't all that many of us experienced 3rd gen owners in the NW. Good luck with the car, they have great suspension and braking stock so no need to modify them unless you need to replace worn out parts or want to lower the car.
