well those pics are missleading... it can be hard to judge

For example, we can determine that since it has atkins seals in it, its a rebuilt engine. What this doesnt tell us, is weather that rotor housing was new or used when the engine was rebuilt.

I see chrome flaking on the actual housing which tells me that the housing itself probably has at least 100,000 on it. However there seems to be apex seal chatter on the housing too, mabey from lack of OMP lube...

I'm gonna guess 100,000... I may be totally wrong, because all in all I am a total n00b after all

Does chrome flaking usually happen as chipping along the outer edges? I've never seen the guts of a rotary before.

Are the chatter symptoms the perpendicular lines, or the longitudinal grooving? Or both?

Yeah they start flaking around the edges. The chatter symptoms are the perpendicular lines

Chatter can easily be from over revving too.

I'm going to say this engine has a fair amount of miles on it, but not a lot. Less than 100k most likely.

All that freaking chatter makes me think it was being revved pretty high a lot and was being over revved more than just once in a while

So I'm guessing this motor was beat on fairly well, which could explain all the chrome flaking/chipping on the housing edges and chatter. So I'll say 60,000

I know the answer cuz a little mouse told me. And if anyone has driven with or around Allen, they would know you tend to beat your car until it cries.

if you noticed. the bottom apex seal has no little corner to it. that was the main failure. the middle one had broken in half also.

well, here is a pic of the rotor where that apex seal was.....

see the big gash on the right side, that is how the little seal came out.

When Kettlman came up to the Spokane area for our BBQ when the motor went out, he did not beat his car at the time he was here, from what I saw anyway. He was here all weekend. In fact he was quite bored cause we were all driving pretty mellow on one of the hwys here in the area, thanks to "Gregs"...lol. I don't speed much in my cars, and Kettlman wasnt too far ahead of me.
