need advice troubleshooting my tach, no reading

I must have shorted my tach out because it has stopped working at the moment. I did unplug the battery and since reconnecting it the tach stopped reading rpm. On a 13b what on the engine tells the tach the reading, this will help me with where to start troubleshooting. I would appreciate idea's on what tools I need and where to start searching for a short or blown fuse.

Check your trailing coil. That is were you get your tach signal.
Thanks Robert

Aaron, the tach is fired off of the msd box on the side opposite of the main wires there is a single wire with a spade connector that plugs into the msd box. It might have come dissconnected or the fuse that power the msd popped or became lose on the wiring side. The fuse is one of the main fuses in the S-4 fuse block bolted to the driver's side strut tower. iirc it is a 30 amp one. Follow the main power wire from the msd box "red one" back to the fuses and trace what fuse it plugs into. Thats probably the prolblem

On a side note that msd box has been rebuilt by msd about 2 years ago, it may have crapped out again. If you have any questions pm me, and I will try to help. Busy swapping in a 5 speed on the battle wagon, but always have time for one of my former cars.
