Unhappy my 7 was broken into

spent the night at the GF's as always

4:15ish am

come out this morning and notice something weird

that orange security light in the center console is on, not blinking like it ussually is, go to put my key in and the keyslot is turned a half turn, put my key in turn it right to straiten it, try to open door thinking its locked and it opens.

They stole:

My sunglasses
CD binder (full of CDs)
my arcade tokens from the ashtray (WTF?)
and the part i'm woried about
my title was NOT taken but the glovebox had been gone through
its contents on the floor
and they also took my Garage door remote.
think they took my tire pressure gauge and tiny screwdriver from the glovebox too, but I'm not worried about those items.

then I went strait to work

well I can say I've joined the "burglarized/vandalized rx7 owners club", and i'm not happy about it.

I'm just happy the car was still there
they didn't take my cd player or faceplate.
I'm guessing that they may have aquired my address from something else in my glovebox, and now i don't feel safe taking my 7 home (remeber they have the remote for the garage door.)
the lock is still in good shape, they probally used another 7 key or whatever
question is from this point what should I do?

count my losses and move on?
I didn't loose the car(that I'm thankful for) but now i'm worried that I'm being watched & they plan to come to my apartment open up the door and take my car then.

this really sucks cause I was planning on moving in with my GF and so far at her apartment complex my car has been damaged, vandalized (left car parked in someone elses spot, they lipsticked the windows) and now broken into.

I don't feel safe leaving my car at her place anymore

Damn man, sorry to hear that.... Glad the car was still there though, guess youll just have to look on the bright side.

Can you change the frequency on the door opener, and get a new remote? If not, I would find a way to lock it, and disconnect the opener for a while at least.

Just unplug the motor and operate the door manually when your car is in there. Or like they said attempt to change the frequency and get a new remote. On another note, try to refrain from keeping door openers, keys, money, cd player faceplates, and other similar things in there that people are looking for. Just to be safe I always take my remote with me or lock it up in the car.

didn't have the title in the car, i meant registration.
the opener is for the gate at my apartment complex, i can't disable the door.
I'm am going to get a pager alarm system installed FOR SURE when i get my bonus on my paycheck later this month.
then I'll use the carclub a buddy gave me to club the next ******* that trys to mess with my car.
and the car was locked, like i said they must have used another key.

it was suggested to me to change to lock cylinders, maybe to like a toyota one, and use different keys on the doorlocks.
anyone think this is possible?

I know everyone was talking about it when TOOSHORT88's car was stolen a few weeks back. Go to the 2nd gen forum and search and you'll probly find something about it. If you don't find anything then ask away in that forum. Good luck!

We have a rash of thefts in portland where they are taking the registration and insurance cards for idenity theft. The police recomend you keep those papers in your wallet now so they can't be taken.

^^Be careful doing this in WA as if you get a DICK pulling you over he may write you a ticket for not having the registration "in your car"... SERIOUSLY! It's happened before. Not to me, but to an acquaintance.

first off your first mistake was leaving the garage door opener inside the car when it was parked outside. second of all WHY would you keep the title inside the car.

here is your solution, clean up the mess they made. install motion detected flood lights in your driveway, unplug the garage door motor until you get it re-coded. and take your faceplate off at night, if your ignition was half turned then its obvious they were trying to steal the car. install a battery cutoff and fuel cut in HIDDEN places only you know about, do not post the locations on the forum cause 99 percent chance its soemone on the forum.

EDIT, nevermind about the title, i was thinking rego, i never leave mine in the glovebox i leave it folded up in a place only i know. gotta have sakurrity... also tell your apartment managers the remote was stolen, they will make everyone get their openers recoded, its regulation standards (I WORK FOR 3 APARTMENT BUILDINGS).

hey im curious where was the appt complex located... Are you sure you locked ur car that night, because dude if there was nothing appealing inside and they had to slim jim your shitt. they would of taken the car. Someone who takes coins and cd's is your local teenage punks
unfortunitly the slim jim turns the lock just like your key does and disables your alarm ..im not so sure but if i had not taken my 2 way paging alarm off of my car (it was going off when i disarmed it) it probally would not of gotten stolen.. go get that 2 way paging alarm...

when i get an alarm i'll be sure to have it set up so that it only gets disabled if i turn it of, not if the door becomes unlocked.
I lock my car whenever i step away from in for more than a few minutes, yes i locked it.
it was either slim jimed, or someone had another mazda key... you know the issue with our old door locks.
On a side note seems that they did move the steering colum from where i had it, i had it set about half way down, the adjustment lever was down and the wheel was up.
