Mt. Rainer Drive

Ok, for those who are planning on going to the International Mazda meet I was planning on going to Mt. Rainer on that day until I realized it was the same day as the meet. So I am moving my drive up to Sunrise to Sunday. I have not really said anything about it until now, but I want to extend an offer to anyone who might be interested. I am leaving the Renton area around 8:00am and hope to arrive at Sunrise by 10:00. My personal plans are to hike up to a couple of lakes and look outs but anyone else can feel free to continue to drive around the mountain. I checked this morning and all of the roads accept Carbon River are open. You can view road status here.

There is a fee for going up to Sunrise as it is a national park. The standard fee is $15 dollars. If you don't want to pay there are several other roads that you can take, Chinook pass is a fun one. so far it is just me and my wife and a friend who is from Chicago who has never been up the mountain. (he is going to be in a honda civic, but it is all stock and he is cool so don't give him too much grief. )
The drive from Renton is about 80 miles and about 2 hours one way. Here is a map of the drive if anyone is interested. There is no real orginazation I just throw it out there for all of the people who are going to have there cars out that weekend anyways. And I figure an 8:00am drive would give people time to get back if they have any afternoon plans (TIM)

See you all next weekend at the Mazda meet!!

That sounds like fun and I hope folks make it. It's a great drive. Unfortunately, we won't be able to.
